What was the 1st Blades game when you were born?
Mine was a 3-3 home draw with Tottenham in Division 1 on 12th December 1964.
Jimmy Greaves got 1 for Spurs and the crowd was 19,325.
We finished 19th in the league that season.
This is how the Green Un described Woody's goal

GOAL - v Tottenham (h) 12.12.64. Jennings tried to bounce the ball on a soggy surface, Woodward challenging hopefully and pounced on the sticky ball, swept it past the goalkeeper and crashed it into the net.

I think I was at that game :(

The first game after I was born was 23 Aug 1952 vs Swansea at Vetchfield we won 2-1 and went on to be champions that season :)

You lazy shitwasp gravelar
Fulham at home we drew 1-1
Tuesday 6 Feb
You've missed out the cup game(s) against Aldershot.

Drew 0-0 at the Lane on 9 January and then lost the replay 1-0 at Aldershot. I went to that game, one of the real low points in our history !

Mine appears to be a 4-2 thrashing at Newcastle, the first game of 55/56 season.

The first game after I was born was 22nd Aug 1953 away vs Portsmouth in Div 1 and we won 4-3 with Hawksworth(2), Brook and Ringstead scoring. The first home game was the following Monday vs Arsenal. We won 1-0 in front of 50,723 with a goal from Browning.

Mine would have been the first game back in the First Division in 1990, I was born 3 weeks after that day at Leicester..

2nd January 1979
Anyone care to find that out for me?
We were supposed to play at home to Aldershot in the FA Cup 3rd round on 6th January but heavy snow forced postponement. My dad and I went to watch Wendy v Arsenal and it was a good match. The best bit was that when Arsenal's keeper Pat Jennings was running to the Kop after the half time break and snowballs were thrown at him. Wendy's manager, Jack Charlton, was furious and walked towards the Kop to tell the fans to stop throwing the snowballs but there were many thrown at him which dismayed him even further before walking back to his dugout. Really funny. The first Blades match after you were born was the re-arranged cup tie against Aldershot on Tues 9th January and it ended in a scoreless draw and we lost the replay by 1-0. Our next match after that was the home game against Fulham in 6th Feb. Drew 1-1, Tommy Smith scoring for us

Born pre-season . The good news is that in the 1956 -57 season , we scored 21 goals in the first 5 matches. A bit of that this season please.

Thanks for that,do you know who got the other 2 Blades goals,I can't find this out.

16/01/54, 2 days after I was born. Blades 1 v Chelsea 3, crowd 22,569. In the Chelsea team was John Harris. Is this the same John Harris that later went on to manage the blades.

Of course, thanks. Might have to go and dig out my dad's old 90/91 season review, was my favourite 'film' as a kid.

Keith Kettleborough got two (one from penalty). Jimmy Greaves and Frank Saul (2) were Spurs scorers. Our team was Hodgkinson, Badger, G.Shaw, Richardson, Mallender, Matthewson, Woodward, Kettleborough, Jones, T.Wagstaff and Hartle

I was born on Sat 27th November 1976 - at around 5-6pm - we'd beaten Millwall away 1-0 I think Woodward scoring the winner, dunno who we played next.

Here is what Green Un described Woody's goal

GOAL - v Millwall (a) 27.11.76. Hamilton went on a solo run, Hamson took the ball and fed Woodward with a neat square pass and the United skipper hit the ball with the outside of his right foot. Millwall goalkeeper Johns could only stand and watch as this devilish shot curled into the top corner of the net.

Our next match was the 1-0 home win against Chelsea on Friday 3rd December. Chico Hamilton scored with a penalty at the Lane End

I went to that match . Difference these days , is that 1no snow flake , would mean a postponement due to weather conditions . Health and Safety and all that.

Good post Silent.

As I was born on Cup Final Day, the nearest would be the final game of the 1964-5 season, when we lost 3-0 at Leeds. Who then went to Wembley the next Saturday and lost the Cup Final aet 2-1 to Liverpool. And yes, my Dad was at home watching the final rather than visiting at the hospital.

3 days before I was born, we beat Bristol Rovers 4-0 - Stancliffe, Garner, Edwards (2)

4 days after, we beat Rotherham United 1-0 - Atkins.

L**ds had the chance of winning the league with one match left but Man U had a game in hand and won their last two games to take the title
