News in the mean streets of Dronfield, is that the we have agreed to the release clause on Parkinson's contract....... Can't and won't believe it myself..... But there you go.

It would explain why he has suddenly become odds on again.

So theirs a man that's won promotion 3/4 times, and we go for Cooper, whos never won promotionpromotion

He suddenly makes Ferguson and Parkinson more appealing... Hmmm tactical by the blades hierarchy ??

He was sacked by peterborough after 13 games after only one win. Took Tamworth down but saved by the resignation of canvey Island from the league. Sacked from Darlington... 5 games in charge of Telford 1 draw and four losses. He's won a promotion from conference North though... That may come in handy actually.

Apparently it's just off 'talks' if he wants them. His contract runs out next year haha agent talk

Can't open it what's it say?

The Wiltshire internet has run out of coal in its engines. But this is what's quoted on BladesMad.

Swindon Town Boss Mark Cooper has been offered talks by Sheffield United over the possibility of taking over the reigns at Bramall Lane, FLIC SPORT understand.

United have been actively searching for a new manager since they gave Nigel Clough his marching orders last Monday, the former Burton Albion and Derby County Chief paying the price for his side bowing out of the play-offs.

The Blades were understood to have a three-man wish-list - comprising of Bradford City Boss Phil Parkinson, former Brentford manager Mark Warbuton and Nigel Adkins, who can count the likes of Reading and Southampton amongst his former clubs.

United were rebuffed in their approach to speak to Parkinson - who led the Bantams to the Capital One Cup Final in 2013 and to the Sixth Round of The FA Cup this term - earlier this week with the 47-old-year understood to be keen to remain at Valley Parade.

Sources close to FLIC SPORT have suggested that the Sheffield United hierarchy are long-term admirers of the job Cooper has carried out at The County Ground - his side's impressive play-off semi-final success over The Blades earning plenty of respect in the boardroom at Bramall Lane.

And, sources have told FLIC SPORT tonight that Cooper - who has won 49 of his 109 games in charge of Town - has been offered the chance to go and stake his claim for why he should be offered the chance to fill the Sheffield United hot-seat

Persistent lazy jurnos trying to sell papers cheap is not the New HRH Bladey Blade way.

We will be delighted with our boards decision on the new manager, new players, promotion, this is our season.

Still believe it's KR, heard he went to Belgium Saturday and that's reason announcement today or tomorrow

I hope I am, have no reason not to believe what I heard unless something drastically changes

Surely his odds would be a lot shorter than 8/1 if he was potentially being announced today?

The next manager markets I have seen tend to have the new manager at very short odds on the day of the announcement. If your source is genuine why hasn't he/she and yourself lumped on Robinson?

Still another 48 hours then?

Sheffield United will today hold a final round of interviews for the managerial vacancy at Bramall Lane before unveiling Nigel Clough’s successor within 48 hours.

Bradford City chief Phil Parkinson and Nigel Adkins, previously of Southampton and Reading, are thought to be the leading contenders for the role following a summit meeting between the League One club’s hierarchy last weekend.

United made an official approach for Parkinson less than 48 hours after parting company with Clough on Monday morning while The Star understands that Adkins remains keen on the role despite reports to the contrary.

Kevin McCabe and representatives working on behalf of fellow co-owner HRH Prince Abdullah Bin Mosaad Abdulaziz Al Saud are scheduled to reconvene at a secret location this morning to apply the finishing touches to a process which began when Clough was dismissed a week ago.

MK Dons’ Karl Robinson and Mark Warburton, who is now a free agent after leading Brentford, were both initially viewed as candidates. But, according to sources within the game, Parkinson and Adkins now head United’s wanted list.

Having received over 50 applications for the post, including several within the past 72 hours, it remains unclear whether or not the search will be widened before an appointment is made.

Adkins, aged 50, won promotions with both Southampton and Scunthorpe before leaving Reading in December.

Parkinson, three years his junior, led Colchester into the Championship nine seasons ago before leading City to League Two play-off success soon after reaching the 2013 Capital One Cup Final.

Although City’s board of directors, including co-chairmen Julian Rhodes and Mark Lawn, refused Parkinson permission to hold talks with their Yorkshire rivals last week, United are likely to activate a get-out clause in his contract should they decide he is best equipped to replace Clough who was axed soon after their defeat in the play-off semi-finals earlier this month.

I am not going to lie or sugar coat anything. If it's Parkinson I will be gutted and the toys will be flying out of the pram. I struggled to renew under clough, but Parkinson! Refund please.

Please please please be Adkins

I fully expect the 8/1 currently available on Karl Robinson to have disappeared by this afternoon ;)

I'm already on at 66/1 thanks

Still £200 at 8/1 is £1600, if your so confident why wouldn't you want an extra £1600?

I have no ITK info, just looking at the odds I'd expect Robinson to be a lot shorter if something had been agreed or close.

On the other hand, he's not gone out either.

The bookies have a maximum amount any one person can stake on this type of market. Besides I haven't even said I'm 'So confident' that its him, just that i expect the current odds to disappear when it becomes clear he is a serious contender.
Jesus christ I wish I hadn't even bothered posting now!

The bookies have a maximum amount any one person can stake on this type of market

And there are loads of methods of circumventing the maximum permitted
