Karl Robinson

I would suggest the Board would prefer the former but are keeping their options open
Hopefully. Just fear Adkins wages might be a problem, must have had a good wage at Southampton and then off the back of his success there I'm guessing Reading gave him a good wage also....

I suppose anything is more than he is currently earning.

You could apply that logic to Clough after his time at Derby. We were getting the older, wiser Clough.

As for "been there done that got the T-shirt" that could also be applied to Micky Adams, who was a young, up-and-coming manager with an impressive promotion record when we hired him.

Sometimes I think that previous achievements shouldn't be the defining factor when it comes to managerial appointments. There are other factors involved, not least luck.

The difference of course being that Robinson has tasted success a month ago, whereas Clough and Adams hadn't for years when appointed.

We must have very different views on what is considered to be "young and up-and-coming" - Adams was 49 when he joined us.

Robinson is clearly planning for the future of MK and doesn't sound like a manager who is going anywhere to me.

I think its between Adkins and Parkinson with the board preferring the latter. If it is Parkinson lets give him a chance before we slate him.

If it's between Adkins and Parky, then surely it's a no brainer?

It would be no surprise to find out we went with Parky because he was the cheap option

I wonder when the board and in particular McCabe will realise that one of the biggest footballing decisions they can make is choosing the right manager? Get it right and most things sort themselves out. Get it wrong and you end up with a number of declining seasons in the championship followed by a 5th season in div 3.

I hope I'm utterly wrong regards this but Phipps big FB spiel has done nothing to reassure me we are taking the right path

Come on board sort it out

Think I read in the star that it is cheaper for United to buy out the last year of Parkinson's contract than it is to pay his release clause? Looks like that's what we will be doing.

Agree with all your comments though Parkinson seems to be the cheaper option in the long run.

I'd wager strongly that Clough was not a 'cheap option'. And sacking Clough certainly wasn't either!

In fact, keeping the same guy in charge, not having to pay out his contract and then get another guy in would have saved more money than any other option out there!

Agreed sacking Clough and his entourage was not a cheap option. But then perhaps that could be justification for the board opting for a "cheap option" now?

58, that's the old Bladey Blade way. I'm getting all optimistic within the fog of doom. Reason being the Prince must be intending to stay given the money he's chucked at the club (£1m on pitch £500K? to get rid of someone and his staff not meeting expectations plus funding NCs transfer efforts). Don't recall any of our transfer target being turned down because we didn't offer enough. And HRH ain't going to fund Baki, Jim, his son etc globe trotting to run SUFC.

I think it might just be the new Bladey Blade way (I hope) that the prince made the investment, it didn't produce the results, he got rid and is reinvesting to get it right. He's not selling assets and players as we have in the past because we failed to get promotion he's ramping it up for next season.

I might be setting myself up for a fall but I believe it is the NEW Bladey Blade way!

COYRAWW. HRH rocks :)

Take that Trigger Blade ;):):D

Guys, this is 100% accurate as my mate who's son plays at the academy has just heard This. Right here goes, Robinson is interested in the SUFC job. He's told the board he's interested in the job. And will be able to talk to our board from Monday, Robbo is top target and Adkins is all signed up and ready to go but we are apparently 'exploring' Robinson's contract situation with Mk that's why there's been a delay. Parkinson is last choice incase any of this falls thru. Let's wait and see what happens but Robbo is defo intrested.

So you've heard a 3rd hand report that has apparently come from a teenager, who miraculously is privy to the boards dealings, and we're supposed to believe this is copper bottomed?

Right.......

With a little reflection, I wonder if Clough's departure may indicate the resolve that now exists behind the scenes at the Lane? It seems there was a point when, during a meeting between Clough and McCabe, it became clear to McCabe, and the board, that this relationship had gone as far as it could go. I was one of those who'd have preferred Clough to remain, at least for the new season. But maybe, if ambition outweighs counting the cost surrounding Clough's departure, we're witnessing the birth of a new focus designed to put the people in place that can deliver this new ambition. I could be way off the mark, it could be that personalities clashed, and that when creativity eyeballs their employer's there's only ever going to be one winner, but I hope that we'll be able to look back on this as a turning point, designed to give us that step up into the Championship.

Right.......
Sorry maxstertheblade but I'm with Highbury_Blade on this one. A little tenuous I think. But if it turns out to be true I will eat my words gladly

Would that be a tie in with the Jim Phipps tweet saying wait till Monday. Still my preferred choice would be Adkins who has more experience in different divisions but I could certainly live with us choosing Robinson. Maybe your mates mate is putting 2 and 2 together and making five.

From working with AFC Bournemouth , the academy coaches , tea lady etc , know as much as we do , and speculate.

In this instance , if Adkins is signed up and ready to go , they must be both coming , as SUFC would get sued for breach of contract .

They could both come for me , if they could work together . As they say two heads are better than one.

Well I've taken the bait 100% max. As I've been saying it's the new Bladey Blade way.

The scenarios you paint fits the happenings, rumours and timescales.

That Said you are feckin dead if either Robbo or Adkin are not being photographed with out new crappy kit come Tuesday.

Max, if there is a definition for the missing link it is you.

Your youthful exuberance is a thinly veiled disguise for pinging the names of the three most mentioned candidates about. Even an S6 goat could do those sums and reach the right numbers.

Beginning your post, "Guys", is more appropriate to being served at Subway than coming on here , so excuse the inability to believe, but Max, please take your foot off the rumour accelerator and don't feel you need to impress. You're amongst friends if only you'll calm down a little.

Wow, if he's right that will be the biggest slice of humble pie ever served up ;);):):D:D:D

Just do the sums, mention the obvious candidates, dress the names up in ways intended to excite, and then, if it doesn't happen, well, you can then move on to the next chapter in the adventures of Max.

I reckon Max is having a ball, but it doesn't mean the rest of us have been invited to the same party.

I'll settle for them to be our next manager but not for Kit-off models :-)

PS I don't care if it is not true, the post has certainly made my weekend a lot brighter!

Borrowed - Apparently Nigel Adkins at BDTBL at the minute - One of my mates dads who works at the superstore saw him

Is he after a Blades onesie ?

BDTBL is the last place interviews would be held.

How many Dads has your mate got by the way :)

Funny you should say that... A friend of a friend is a student at the halls opposite Bramall Lane. While playing ultimate Frisbee in the residence carpark, one of his buddies inadvertently threw the Frisbee across the road, landing outside the main entrance. Who was there to retrieve it and then wish the lads good luck in his warm scouse accent? A carpark attendant who must’ve have been born and raised in Merseyside.
