Adkins would be a great shout. For starters, I've already seen him referred to as Atkins on other threads, so he can continue in the age-old tradition of misspelling the names of those at the club. Also, we already have a transferable shit nickname in place from the last manager if he doesn't play the style or personnel we want.
He's gone to 33/1 sadly:(

For me, Adkins is the one of the available managers that has on his CV a job comparable to the one at Bramall Lane.

Southampton had a heavier fall from grace than us, having had a much longer spell in the Premier League. They were in a right state when they were relegated to League 1 in 2009, and then had a new owner with cash. Pardew was appointed with promotion the expectation. They won the JPT, but finished 7th. Pardew was allowed to stay through the summer, and was then sacked at the end of August. What was Adkins inheriting there?

- a club with high expectations from the fans
- a club that had promotion as a clear aim from the board
- no opportunity to recruit due to the timing of his appointment

A high pressure job, not unlike United's, that Adkins dealt with perfectly. Here he'd have the benefit of time to recruit too. I'm not sure any other available candidate can claim to have as clear an example of what's required for this job on their managerial CV.

Adkins is everything we are looking for on paper.

He,s the best available in our price bracket, I would be delighted with his appointment.

Would you find Deane remotely interesting if he hadn't played for us? No, I thought not. He's done absolutely nothing to make him a candidate to manage SUFC. Whatever he may or may not have achieved in Norway is completely irrelevant.

Bladey Bladeness.
Exactly pinchy, if we going down the favourite player of my era route, I'll have curry please.

How does each way work in this case..?

Some of your best stuff here BTL - one for the annals. Did Adkins apologise for the multiple promotions he's achieved? For the international players he helped develop? For the clubs he helped to grow?
.

which is why hes out of a job
some managers have a period of doing well
like wilson

Ancelotti (quite short I believe - though clearly not Scottish) and McClaren (ex-Derby - what if it wasn't Clough after all...) now available as well.

And it's the Muppets, as in "muppet".

I'm still interested in the answer:
  • Bert was joking - and it went over my head.
  • There's a blindingly obvious way you can have each way (I don't bet, so I don't know)
  • Other (please specify)
Which one is it?

It was the face palm I was going for, not really the muppet.

Anyway, you can't place an each way bet when there is no 2nd, 3rd or 4th place etc. possible.

Let's hope so.
I'm expecting a decision tomorrow.
Nah, I'm expecting it to be like 2 years ago. Some trouble signing a manager. I expect Adkins to take some persuading. But I think if the 2 favourites don't come through, Mark Warburton would be a good option, as long as he didn't bring back Weir

Don't think Warburton would be a back-up option, he's regarded as being more highly thought of than
adkins or anyone else.

Well thank god it's not my job to think where to go after that
I would do all i can to get adkins first of all, make him my 1st choice.
Then if he really didn't want to come, i'd have a punt at warburton.
Failing that, i would reluctantly look at somebody like graham alexander from fleetwood.
