Redfearn? REDFEARN?

We aint in a position for risks. Also, as much as I'd be happy with Adkins, we shouldn't limit ourselves to unemployed managers.
Don't think you'll ever get a manager as good as Adkins with the amount he has achieved at this level, out of work when we are also manager-less, for me it's a no-brainer.

No point going out paying compensation when their is an outstanding candidate out of work.

So basically managers are only as good as there last job and forget the good stuff they've done before?

It's an indicator, for sure.

Look, I'm not pro-Clough or anti-Clough, I just look at that list and I don't see anybody who particularly stands out above Clough. Slightly better, slightly worse maybe.

Adkins did an excellent job at Southampton and a terrible job at Reading. That's a gamble. I guess he has League 1 success with the biggest side in the division so possibly is the stand out option. I'd not be against it but the Reading debacle would ring alarm bells for me.

Ferguson is a proven failure in League 1 with big budgets - Peterborough. Did he manage PNE in League 1 or was he in the Championship with them? Either way, not the answer.

Everybody wants Clough out because of his defensive minded football. Guess why Sunderland fans wanted Poyet out?

I think Adkins is an option but a gamble - has he still got what he had five years ago? Redfearn could be worth exploring. Deane is the intriguing one. However, it's a massive massive massive gamble and a massive decision to make.

I'm rather annoyed with United taking this long to make a flaming decision ...

However, now they have, the list of possibilities is not filling me with confidence.

I've read a bit about Deano in Norway and that'd be an interesting one. 8/1 with Sky Bet. Anybody know how his team in Norway have played? Attacking football, I'd hope!

Adkins - did nobody see Reading over the last couple of years?

Ferguson - has nobody seen Peterbrough over the last couple of years?

Poyet - Sunderland were woeful and defensive minded under him.

Looking at the shorter odds, there are several there that fill me with fear. Morgan - nope. Warnock - backwards move.

Deano is the interesting one but Redfearn also 8/1. Maybe see what could he do with some backing from the board rather than the strife he's had with the Dirties?

Would you find Deane remotely interesting if he hadn't played for us? No, I thought not. He's done absolutely nothing to make him a candidate to manage SUFC. Whatever he may or may not have achieved in Norway is completely irrelevant.

Bladey Bladeness.

Every manager suffers failures.
It's what he has achieved in the past that matters and shows their capability with the right resources.

Clough has achieved nothing, Adkins has achieved everything at this level.

I'm sorry, but anyone who's team has been flying in this division or the one above are going to look higher than league one, and such a high risk job. Our choices are from people who did well in the league below, who inevitably will be light on experience or heavy on past baggage. Or, people sacked from the league above. I think someone sacked from the Prem (Poyet) would look higher than us. I think from this stock Adkins would be the best choice.

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned Big Sam yet. Would he get the job done?

So the brief is to get someone with experience of getting teams promoted, who will also play good football?

Not many names on that particular shortlist.

Makes me laugh when people say no to warnock because its going backwards or a backward move
fucking right it is to the last time we had a good manager
who won games
attacked teams
got the crowd on its feet

Never mind the fact we were the dominant sheffield/yorkshire team

Who wants to go back to that eh ?

I don't think Big Sam fancies it...

The point is we wouldn't. His time has been and gone.

Booooo
No different to clough. Same era, famous dad's,no chance of promotion with that clown

A couple of difference to clough would be promotions out of this league and having signed the likes of assomba Tomlin mackail-smith who are far better signings than any that clough made here

Tenner on rafa
Now need to negotiate how much percentage for Jim phipps :D

You speak with so much assurance on these matters that its almost impossibe to remember you are just giving an opinion

At last, you're getting there. Ecclesiastes 3:1 and I are a formidable combination.
