Spirits lifted, definitely, but wait for the replacement before you celebrate.

I booked our season tickets with a heavy heart with the prospect of more Clough and Garner on match days. Light-hearted today definitely.

Agree Woody . Never a dull moment at BDTBL . The board have speculated to accumulate in a weird sort of way.

I do think that the list of players Clough wanted , included a number of Derby players , the board had just lost the trust in the Clough brothers to recruit the right calibre of players for next season.

The biggest thing may also be the report from Morgan on player , squad , training , tactics .

He did enough for me to warrant another year. It was a 3 year plan and he deserved until Christmas at least. They better have someone good in to replace him though or else this is going to be a very bad move in my opinion.
My personal choice is Jurgen Klopp, we are more appealing than Brentford I reckon http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3094864/Brentford-fail-audacious-Jurgen-Klopp.html

I think the way we coasted into the playoffs made the boards mind up. Clough is stubborn and seemed completely out of ideas. Then as soon as the playoffs are over it's "oh we need some centre halves and a striker" well that's been obvious all bloody season.

I'm still pissed off with the daft arrangement over McCarthys loan move. That was worrying that someone like Clough would be so daft to bring a player in where he wouldn't be training with his squad. That only came about I think because Clough got desperate after falling out with Butler. He lurched from one problem to another mostly of his own doing.

Why on earth did the board let him do the promo vid then sack him a few days later?
Think the prince has had a major say in this hence the delayed sacking - which if it was going to happen should have happened the day after our exit to Swindon.

Thanks for your efforts Nige and good luck with the future,

Onwards and upwards for us - please make the right appointment board - UTB!

A great day for short-termism!

Yes, Cloughie made a few unfathomable mistakes which have ultimately cost him, but his early turnaround surely earned him some slack. Credit the large majority of supporters who evidently agreed.

Steve Cotterill started at Brizzle around the same time as Cloughie did at United. I don't see many of their fans criticising their club for fulfilling short term ambitions at the minute...

The club needs, to appoint a proper manager.

The board had to sack Clough for his sheer incompetence at planning and building a team. From the moment McGuire left, he completely failed to build a defence with centre backs.
I have never known any manager try to go a season without two if not three centre backs. It's one of the most important parts of any teams back-bone. He also failed to bring in a good quality centre forward and left central midfield thread bare.

I wasn't Clough's biggest fan by any stretch but I'm dreading to hear some of the names that will be in the mix now.

I would love it to be someone inspiring but realistically it's going to be a journeyman with an underwhelming track record or a hopeful punt on a rookie.

JFH must be in with a shout but given our 'connections' don't be surprised if we bring in a foreign manager

Welcome to the reality of English Soccerball Jim.

This will have cost HRH a few bog rolls but it shows he (and his money) are committed to SUFC's success. TBH I would have been expecting him to go if NN hadn't!

I know nowt about employing a football manager, all I know is I want fast exciting attacking football and players who want to bleed red and white stripes (RIP Woody). I'm hoping somewhere, someone in our setup does know who to pick cause our track record of crap managers makes me think someone can sell sand to the Saudis

You wanna sit near the directors box and hear some of the shite hurled towards the decision makers.
Far more effective than a tuppeny hapenny poll on some website...
Admittedly that is correct mate but i do think the board are proving their worth now and have took this decision upon themselves to get rid of Cloughy, it's going to cost us alot of money and like others have elluded too, this needs to be the right decision now otherwise we could be in this division for a twattin long time.

Its got to have been HRHs decision.

Im guessing that Clough spoke to HRH & the board about his plans for next season & they just didnt like what they heard.

If you fail in your prime objective for the season & you have been given ample funds & support. Then you cant have any complaints.

Im wondering what Brayford must be thinking. what a mare second spell hes enduring!!

I am overjoyed that trollop has gone but worried about who is next.

Why would you sack the best conduit to all the players?
Do you want the next manager to start totally blind?
Chris will know far more bout all the players, their feelings, their strengths and weaknesses etc

Why would any board want to throw that invaluable initial knowledge away?

Absolute Bladey nonsense. The brainless Hoofer was appointed as a coach solely for financial reasons. He has showed no aptitude for coaching at u-21 level and was hopeless as caretaker, with his upanatem quick fix exposed for what it was by abysmal surrenders at both Portsmouth and Yeovil. He was an integral part of Clough's team and, unless you are a Bladey hypocrite, there is no case whatsoever for him to stay. He hasn't a clue.

Upanoutim!

Give it to Morgs!1 Please not Billy Davies, Sam Allardyce, Ian Dowie etc or any of the other that get trotted out.
Hopefully none on that list for me. Might not be a surprise that Redfearn or Allardyce have just become free though.

I think this provides us with MASSIVE hope!

Talk of stability is nonsense, it only takes one full summer of preparation and then
one full season of action to do the business, as Bristol pointed out to us.

This proves the board DO HAVE a backbone and are able to make the decisions.
This proves that we do have ambition after all.

If Adkins gets the job, and makes some decent signings and get's rid of the small, weak lot we currently have
i think we will go on to storm this league next season similarly to bristol this.

I'm quite sadden, I think he did well for us, and we were moving in the right direction. Hoping we make Morgan the new manager

Depressing though isn't it? Remember how hopeful we all were this time last year? I think most of us genuinely thought we were finally heading in the right direction.

Now it's more disappointment and uncertainty. Bloody hell.
