This club lurches from self inflicted crisis to crisis.
Another stupid sacking and for that reason I couldn't give two fucks who they appoint, as it'll only last a short while before the noisy minority influence the weak buggers who run our club.
Probably Morgs, who appears to have escaped the scythe that's taken out team Clough. And why not? No other fucker gets much of a shot at it, six months and he'll be gone too.... Sad, but hey ho, I'll be there for the roller coaster next August..

"the decision by the Board that a change in direction was necessary for the forthcoming season."

How many "directions" will United try before they happen upon "the magic formula"?

Sheffield United: "Spinning on a dime".

I'm not a fan of Clough's man management and ego, he forgets at times that it's not his club and he should suck it up some times, but find this more than a little worrying.

Unless United have someone "special" already lined up I fear a return to the "on-the-cheap", silk-purse-pigs-ear strategy of years gone by.

Give it to Morgs!1 Please not Billy Davies, Sam Allardyce, Ian Dowie etc or any of the other that get trotted out.
Please not Sam Allerdyce?

Thankfully the fans will not have a say.

Sam Allerdyce has an exceptional managerial record, 2 divisions above us.

Shall we be constrained by "the ethos" for 5,7, 10 years?

The polls meant fuck all in the end aswell. If the board were listening to the fans on polls etc, etc, then surely they'd have kept him, but they haven't, i think they've took this decision on themselves to sack him because there hasn't been any real calls for his head at matches.

The powers that be have finally realised that we cannot afford to try and tippy toe our way out of this crap division. the Lane needs to be the place away teams fear to come. How many of them are used to playing in front of 20,000 at home! Finally lets hope it's goodbye to negativity and hello attack, attack, attack!!!

Neanderthal pub team HOOOOFF!!

My word, they're showing their true colours today.

Let's bring Dinosaur Dave back with Bladey Hoofer Morgs to answer his phone.

I despair. I really do.

Maybe now some of the better players will want to come to the lane, it's no secret that NC is opinionated, stubborn, somewhat aloof, alienates players (Collins Butler JCR) and also has his pets (Coutts) word gets around in football circles and if NC wants another job on the merry-go-round i'd say he needs to take a good look in the mirror.

Woody , It shows the boards intent , if they are willing to pay off all the staff ( does it include Morgan ) . Although pro Clough , my spirits have been lifted.

Spirits lifted, definitely, but wait for the replacement before you celebrate.

I booked our season tickets with a heavy heart with the prospect of more Clough and Garner on match days. Light-hearted today definitely.

Get ready for Morgan to be appointed. Why the hell hasn't he been sacked too?
Why would you sack the best conduit to all the players?
Do you want the next manager to start totally blind?
Chris will know far more bout all the players, their feelings, their strengths and weaknesses etc

Why would any board want to throw that invaluable initial knowledge away?

He did enough for me to warrant another year. It was a 3 year plan and he deserved until Christmas at least. They better have someone good in to replace him though or else this is going to be a very bad move in my opinion.
My personal choice is Jurgen Klopp, we are more appealing than Brentford I reckon http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3094864/Brentford-fail-audacious-Jurgen-Klopp.html
I didn't think he did warrant another year but i have to admit, i'd come round to the idea of him getting it.

You wanna sit near the directors box and hear some of the shite hurled towards the decision makers.
Far more effective than a tuppeny hapenny poll on some website...

Great. Now we can miss out on possible transfers while we fuck around trying to install another also-ran. Happy times.

Window doesn't open until July, and I always think having the manager have too much influence over transfers is dangerous anyway. Nothing to stop Brannigan or whoever talking to prospective centre backs right now.

Very surprised but very happy, this must be down to money, they've looked at the season ticket renewals since early bird finished and reckoned they were going to be three or four thousand down on attendances, that probably wouldn't have been sustainable with all the Accademy and what goes with it to fund.

Now we need to get the appointment right this time, but already I am now looking forward to the new season rather than dreading it.

They sure know how to start a week.....surprised by this, but there again very little about professional football surprises me.

So, I've already read calls for stability within the club, kind of reminds me of what was said when Clough was appointed. All manner of questions occur to me, will Brayford want to stay? Will a new manager be expected to deliver promotion in his first season, or will it be a season of transition thus ensuring this and next season in Division 1? And so on and so on.....

I suppose it does reveal that cut throat realism now exists within the club, and that a manager must achieve, not come close to achieving. I felt Clough might be savvy enough to learn from last season't mistakes, but we'll never know now. Time to move on, get behind the new guy, and hope we see significant improvements where it matters, on the pitch.

I sense this thread will gather pace as the day moves on. So, Up The Blades, as ever, perhaps ambition behind the scenes finally matches the fine words we've heard far too often in the past.

It all depend what Clough said in the post season board meeting . Clough was in a dammed if you do , dammed if you don't scenario . If he admitted his mistakes ( for all to see , and wanted more money for player recruitment , and a situation where the players brought in were not financial assetts ) or he said he had not made any , but it was circumstances that created the situation , he could not win.

Football is all about winning , and to this end he has failed . To me it was not McCabe but the Prince and his advisors who made the decision.

Phipps , a nice guy it seems , but his thoughts and say will have carried some clout.

Lets not forget the players have let him down , but you cannot sack 40 odd players.

shocked by this!!!

I think they must have someone lined up to replace him asap.

Im hoping its Adams.

I've just found out about this, v surprised in the end.

I would take Adkins or Warburton or maybe even Gary Johnson if we cant get either.

Or even Holloway.

My initial thoughts:

1) Why get him to do that god-awful video about "next season starts now" and then sack him? Something must have kicked off in the interim between then and now.

2) Who are we really going to appoint that: a) wants to come to L1 in the first place, and; b) commands the respect of players with the quality of Brayford to drop down - and surely Brayford himself must in the back of his mind be thinking 'wtf have I done'

3) Are we going to: a) rush an appointment and flop again, or; b) take forever over it, get it right (hopefully) but then not allow him the time to implement anything before next season.

I look upon this decision with distinct pessimism :( please prove me wrong SUFC
