There is more poll's on here than at our border control. On NC I will save my vote until I understand "the theory of everything"

ACAG - oooh-oooh-oooh Get Clough out and you will see
ACAG - oooh-oooh-oooh Mark Warburton's the one for me...
To the left, to the right - scoring goals just for fun
ACAG - oooh-oooh-oooh - Shove your Nigel up your bum. :D

Fair comments but barring a total disaster next season, I don't think his reputation will be as severely damaged as you suggest.
I think that Chairmen would look at his record with us and see a manager with a 49% win record.
Taking over when we were 23rd in the League and finishing 7th and 5th (so far).
A manager who took a 3rd tier team to two Cup Semi Finals and a 5th Round (so far) beating 6 teams from higher leagues in the process.
Who funded all or at very least most of his transfer kitty himself with the sale of Maguire, increased attendances, play-off matches and cup revenue.
Who balanced the wage bill and operated within the FFP rules by offloading high wage earners and many other players.
I don't think he would struggle to get another job if he left us at this point. It remains to be seen what he will achieve next season.

And some want him gone so the loony's can pick another?

Next season could be shit or bust for him with the fans but the higher he gets us the better he will do.

Roll on 2019.

There is plenty of evidence of Clough urging the team forward and not getting much response.

If this was the case then that itself would be a management issue wouldn't it?

Fwiw I don't think it's a case of Clough urging the players forwards and them resisting. Not sure what is going on though.

That's more like it! :)

Finally we are looking towards achieving some evidence that the objective seems to be promotion but i'm sure clough will come up with some excuse if we don't achieve it next season, and i'm sure it will not be from being too stubborn and not admitting when he's got it wrong.

I am not disagreeing with you HC, but i think the idea that no matter how the season goes you would have NC out is a bit over the top. So, if we walk the division and the first team are on holiday in April, he would have to go?

I am not saying that I believe this will be the case, and I think the question marks are above the manager in a very big way given the farce of the last match. But a little less hyperbole would greatly strengthen your argument.

And yes, I believe our goal should be to return to the PL, though I am not sure how realistic that is in the short/medium term. And no, he has not demonstrated he is capable of this. But I think he might be capable of getting us to the Championship and hopefully maintaining our position there so the foundations are in place for the challenge to come not necessarily by him. But if he gets us promoted next season, he virtually guarantees himself that opportunity. Though that evidence diminishing...

No problem HMB, I'm just looking at his history in management along with his time so far with us and I just don't see anything that suggests he can get us to the PL. On that basis I don't see the point in renewing his contract.

Whatever you, me or anyone else believes our goal is to get to the PL, it's the place where the money is (I'm no fan of the PL). I have no faith at all the Clough can deliver this in any term. He's disillusioned me that much that i'm not even sure that the "foundations" he may lay will serve is well going forward. We are 12 months further along from where he said we only need 4 - 5 players, you could argue we need more now than then? Yet our squad is twice the size.

I agree, if he gets us promoted he will virtually guarantee his contract renewal, but as I've said I just don't see him as the man that will get us to our ultimate destination.

Yes you're right my original post could've been less hyperbolic after reading it again today, I wasn't meanig for it to be, but the sentiment still stands.

Not trying to make any point? Just to clarify my stance on clough is that i believe he should be here for next season, but not if we don't get promotion.
With the 18,000, just trying to say that nobody knows how these fans feel, but can't be that bad given theres been no protests. So, i am largely neutral towards clough at this moment.

You're doing a terrific job of remaining neutral on Clough Barny. Keep up the good work.

Just because i'm neutral on whether he should be sacked at the moment, doesn't disqualify me from making valid points about his negative aspects from last season.

My view is:

If he gets automatic promotion he gets an automatic offer of a new contract.
If he gets us through the playoffs, his contract is reviewed.
If neither, then he gets the sack as soon as it becomes mathematically impossible to go up.

Fair views there. I personally think that anything other than automatic this time round is not good enough and we should get a new manager in to lift the team before the play offs as this hasn't been tried in the past few seasons and could just do the trick.

I've voted out, but tbh, if he doesn't hit the ground running next season, as opposed to the way off the pace from the off this season, trying to play catch up but not being good enough to achieve it, then he should go much sooner.

I wanted Clough out now, but it aint going to happen, so a dozen games and if it's not working then it's off you go Mr C. He's had a season and a half now. How much longer do we and the board take to decide and come to the conclusion he just can't cut it?
