As many on here and other forums are demanding that only automatic promotion will do for next season, i thought i would do an updated clough poll to refer back to at the end of the season to see what blades fans expected of this coming season.

Although this may seem obvious of what is expected, this will act as proof of the expectations come the end of the season and will also come useful should clough come out at the end of the season claiming the expectations were lower than they actually were.

So, say we miss out on 2nd place on GD and then win the play off final 5-0 (one can dream). We sack him?
1. that is a highly unlikely scenario
2. if you were to include all these minor details in a poll, it would be very complex

it is just to simply clarify that the expectation is automatic.

I voted for IN, but if you'd have left out the "automatic" I would have voted OUT.

Personally not convinced he's the man to take us forward even if he does get us promoted.

I wouldn't renew his contract whatever happens next season.

Nothing against Clough, he's just not shown me anything to suggest he can take us where we want to go.

His contract expires in 2016 anyway!

Just my opinion, but surely finishing outside the top 2 in his second full season with the resources etc.. would be deemed a failure and worthy of letting him move on. Then getting someone else in with enough time to prepare before the play-offs to inspire the team in a similar way to how lee johnson did at barnsley. I know it didn't work when wilson was sacked but a replacement wasn't appointed before the play-offs so the club had no lift from anywhere.

The polls just start us all over again with permutations , and the big let down of this season . The poll / vote will be by the members of the board . What they agree or disagree on , and there final decision , we have no alternative to go with it.

If fan power counted for anything at the lane this season , mixed with some dire home performances , Clough would have gone already.

Just to clear it up, should we not get automatic, this would assume new manager would be brought in before the play-offs.

Let's sack the manager just as we reach the playoffs, that worked well last time

I don't know why, but I have a feeling some people won't rest until we get a poll that goes as they want it to.

That might be described as an agenda.....

The previous poll was pointless (in my view) as I suspect many who ticked the "Clough in" box think that he will "learn from his mistakes" and address the inadequacies both in the squad and his approach. Personally I don't think he has it in him to do either.

I disagree. Many are dissatisfied and bemused but there is no groundswell amongst non-Internet; non-football heaven fans for NC's head. Most want him to carry on the job he undeniably started so well, but to learn the lessons of last season. In other words, a reasonable approach.

Sorry, SAD members.

How on earth does your personal view make it pointless??

You have no idea why individuals voted as they did. In the only case I can speak definitively of, my own, you are wholly and completely wrong.

Dear.....oh dear......or dear.....it just gets dafter and dafter.

Carry on Up the Agenda.

So if Clough achieves promotion you'd be happy to get rid of Clough? Wouldn't that be a case of taking us forward? Or does a decision of such absurd fundamentalism not concern itself with what's clearly a good thing for the club?

The often expressed view is that 400 voters on here and 400 voters on Blades Mad can't possibly be a true reflection because "Me and all my mates think he should be sacked".

What about the other 18,000 that turn up on match days?

Mmmm, having had it pointed out that two Blades' forums are in agreement, that's not enough. You then throw a figure of 18000 into the mix as if there's an underlying reason supporting this? Could you enlighten me as to what this reason is, or what point you were struggling to make?

I must be a SAD pro Clough then. Happy , Satisfied , Content , No not at all . Just very bemused .

Next season , is the season when the honeymoon is over .

Yes i will be very Sad if we don't make it season , or the season after that . Perhaps we are all deluded and actually have found our level - mediocrity .

No doubt Clough will sort it - hope he does .
