Swindon played four loan players in their 14 players used tonight. Ricketts from Wolves signed 21/3. Stephens from Southampton. Turnbull from Southampton. Swift from Chelsea.

Amongst their contracted players the following had been on loan with Swindon previously: Foderingham (Histon) Byrne ( ex-Spurs) Luongo (ex-Spurs) Obika (ex-Spurs)

The loan system is there to be used and the above players were good value tonight. Signing good quality young players from Premier League clubs is a triple whammy. You get their contribution and they form relationships with your manager and they gain first team experience.

We played 5 ex-Derby players in our first eleven, that's another way of assembling a squad.

Great point. Preston is another team that has used the loan system very well. Beckford in particular has been a coup.

Why are we generally so hopeless at using the loan system ? Yes Coady and Brayford worked well last year but other clubs seem to do this much more effectively than us.

Lower clubs and managers have working relationships with bigger clubs and managers . Perhaps Clough like Warnock is not that liked and found to be user friendly enough . We don't seem to get it right . Even Derby don't like us .

noone wants to come here or managers don't think it would help players come here. Swindon have the lad Swift from Chelsea.. who do we get?? noone.
