Blades look Stateside
Sheffield United has stepped up its interests in bringing American investment into the club.

The move follows a fact finding and networking visit to the States by Plc Chairman Kevin McCabe.

Mr McCabe has confirmed that the Plc is set to appoint a firm of investment advisers which would work alongside the club in identifying potential backers.

Following his visit to New York, Mr McCabe said he would also evaluate interest from the Far East.

Mr McCabe said the development is part of his contuing aim to attract new investment and ideas as the club seeks to Bounce Back to the Premiership at the first attempt following the appointment of new manager Bryan Robson.

"This club is not standing still. We are moving forward on and off the pitch," said Mr McCabe. "At the meetings the interest in the Blades was high.

"Americans are very creative. They know how to profile and brand football. I had some good meetings in New York and we intend to appoint a firm of investment advisers. We're looking for people to work alongside us, not just for capital but for expertise," said Mr McCabe, who pointed out that the club's link with China was proving attractive to the Americans.

surely you cant look to be bought out? ( i didnt read it but is that what its about. But wouldnt want americans owning united i could imagine now the capital one arena where sheffield red play grrrr.

I think the key is, as has been quoted elsewhere, he wants someone to work "alongside" not to take over.

Maybe we could get a selection of american piss lager to serve at half time. :)

Nobody seems to have bothered with this story but some US dolars could make a great difference to our club. About the smartest move we have made to date.
