Assuming Brayford and Doyle both start, who is he going to go for? I'm thinking Doyle will be out this summer, and Clough will leave him as Club captain when he plays, but begin to play him less and less over the final stretch.

For me I love Brayford as much as the next Blade but being the type of player he is where he loves to bomb on, loves to have the freedom to just concentrate on his own job to create & attack as well as defend when required I'd not give him the armband for his own good.

Some players play better without the added responsibility on their shoulders that the armband brings & I'd put Brayford in that category.

Let's be rate there should be eleven captains out there anyway & we're gonna need leaders to achieve success

If everything you hear about Brayford is right, then I think he's the natural captain for the club. I'm a big fan of Centre Halves being captain, but Brayford just has so much more. He's got respect from his own team mates, with so many youngsters around the squad, Brayford is a calming influence, thought he did a good job when we played Swindon. Referees will undoubtedly see Brayford as an honest leader and a gentleman on the pitch, he's not a hacker. Without disrespect to Doyle, i'm sure his reputation can't help him with Refs.

True, however I like the skipper to be down the spine of the side at centre half preferably where they can see the whole picture of the game infront of them.

I'm not saying I would mind Brayford as captain I just don't want his game & the way he plays, where he plays with such freedom to be put off due to the extra responsibility, in all honesty as I said previously they should all be skippers out there

I'm not so sure. When the dodgy ref called Brayford over when he was giving Higdon the first of his final warnings, it took Brayford ages to go over as if to say "what's it got to do with me?".
He probably has the respect and admiration of his team mates but that doesn't make him a leader.

Interesting question. Really depends on the personalities involved. Can make a player or reduce a previously inspirational figure to nerve-wracked, bumbling ineptitude.

Then there's the need for diplomacy.

But you have to stand your ground.

Having said that I am impressed with how thoughtful and articulate a lot of the players are. There could be someone in the squad who's a dark horse.

As opposed to a cart horse.

All players on the pitch have got to start being captains ,and stop being corporal Jones. Each individual has to start taking responsibility and leadership.

Basham playing in Doyles place in midfield.
don't give Clough any ideas, Basham is honestly one of the worst midfielders I have seen at the lane, as a defender I think he's decent but he makes a terrible "TERRIBLE" midfielder.
I have not forgotten how bad he was at the start of the season for us in that position, I was cursing his name every week for his lackluster performances.
Please Clough what ever you do, never but him back in that position, it will honestly drive me insane :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:
...... calm ........
