I think the team more or less picks itself (just a Baxter/Scougall/Reed decision), however if Flynn isn't passed fit who should play right back?

Alcock - started the season well but has tailed off and no taken his place back from Flynn since returning to the squad.

Davies - also started the season well, deputising at RB, but has only just recovered from injury himself. Maybe has the experience but not the legs for defending against a PL team.

Freeman - OS says not cup tied. Did well last season as full back cover and will be keen to get back in the red and white and impress the staff and fans. No idea how he is fitness wise.

Basham - we could bring McGahey or Kennedy in at CB to play a recognised RB at RB.

Personally I think taking Bash out of the middle would be foolish. I also have a nagging feeling that Alcock is most likely to make a game losing error against a team of Spurs' calibre, and Davies probably doesn't have the legs to play 90-120 minutes at RB against quick players. If match fit and raring to go I'd throw Freeman straight in.

We'll play Freeman, win, then get thrown out because he wasn't registered for the first leg.

It will be Freeman, that will explain why he didn't play for the U21s against Huddersfield.

Its very important for our chances that Flynn is fit. As well as proving a more than capable full back he makes some great runs.
Freeman for me if he does not make it.
Alcock- as above
Davies- not enough game time recently.
I would drop Reed for Baxter, we need someone to provide some decent balls to JMC, Sparky and Murphy.

League cup rules state only 'registered' players may play, a 'registered' player being one who would be eligible to play in a league fixture to kick off at the same time on the same date. As Freeman would be ok to play if it were a league fixture tonight, he can play against Spurs.

There are no replays in the League Cup ;)

Flynn was beaten in the air a couple of times in the 1st leg buy that lump of a central defender he was tasked with marking. If Freeman plays the extra 3 inches he has on Flynn might be crucial.

I remember once watching Redmond for England U21's against Freeman for Wales U21's he absolutely tore him apart, Freeman simply couldn't handle his pace or his skill. I fear if Freeman was to play although he is OK in our league, Townsend and Lamela would target him as the weak link.

I would risk Flynn. We have Brayford to come in for Saturday and Alcock/Davies can play against Preston so Flynn can have a good rest after tonight.

I watched that game,he didn't get much support to be fair to him,but he will get that from us and as long as we stick together as a unit, unlike the Wales u21s',then he'll be fine.
