Yep it's a good start. We can of course still get automatic, and whilst we have a mountain to climb, its still possible. We just need some luck with goals and injuries and maybe a decent transfer in or 2. Sounds like we could have scored 5. Apparently according to RS Scoogle and Doyle missed good chances.

We scored 5 from open play in 180 minutes :-)

Sounded like a brilliant win - went to Boundary park with a mate in the Donny end today. Missing nothing about Butler, not good at all.

We seemed to play with more intent today, long may it continue!

We did indeed - it was more like our cup team of sitting a little deeper and allowing Preston on to us.

Worked a treat - the 2nd and decisive goal was started by an excellent run from deep by Murphy.

One of the key things today was Mcnulty showed how good he is with his back to goal - great hold up play.

and yes, long may it continue.

It started with Baxter winning the ball almost at left back.
Baxter and Doyle played in each other's positions

To be fair on Baxter he put in a great shift today - all some of his detractors want is more consistency and a bit more effort, just like today.

His extra skill should then allow him to be more dominant in a game.

Played where Doyle usually does but a little more forward. It was also good to see Doyle almost up front at times.

Is that the same Baxter that's too fat and lazy to be in the team?

Baxter has never been fat - but lazy is what he has been in certain games - as above all his detractors want is EXACTLY what we have seen from him today.

He has set the standard today that he NEEDS to maintain.

Not too much to ask, because what we end up with is a productive midfield.

Only downside today was Scoogs - very little end product.

Agree, Fulwood. A very impressive performance with good stuff in all areas. BUT (there's always a 'But' ;)), the bit I've highlighted cost us a goal. We let them on to us too much, for about ten to 15 minutes. No outlet and too many wild hoofs to nobody upfield.

As it turned out, spltting hairs. Great stuff, Blades.

Great win. I'm more surprised we beat Preston than QPR.

McNulty starts and scores again. We finally beat a team above us. Good performance by the sounds of it as well, plus we actually scored more than one goal in a single game. All very encouraging.

Against my better judgement I'm actually starting to feel optimistic about United's chances again.

Not surprising that we beat a team who set up more offensively. Further proof the oppositions set ups the main reason for the difference between league and cup.

Doyle class as ever, nice to see people noticing his and Baxter's quality.

My knife is out of him put in a good shift today
Happy
