Never rated Freeman that highly, I'd rather stick with what we've got, and invest elsewhere. Know nothing about Paul Coutts.

I do start worry that our scouting network only seems to be active in the east midlands and scotland tho!
Since when has Blackpool been in the east midlands ? How many players has Clough actually got from Scotland and the East Midlands ? Freeman or his agent may be a bit of a tool but he looked a decent player to be fair.

So we want Doyle, GMS, bradshaw and brayford....
Clough wants these two.
I still like Cloughie but as far as recruitment and team selection goes he's miles off what most the fans want

'Scottish Midfielder Derby' - NC at some stage has to change his search criteria on Football Manager, although this fella is 6 foot so it's going to be a no go anyway

Their SatNav came from the same supplier as the fax machine.....

Paul Coutts may be a good player, I'll admit I don't know much about him, but why is Clough so keen to go after players with serious injury troubles? It may offer value but it's also a big risk. We've already got J Wallace almost permanently out of action. McCarthy had been out a long time when he came on loan and struggled to make any impact until eventually we sent him back. Steve Davies is another one of Clough's targets who's struggled to stay fit. It takes players a long time to reach the level they were playing at prior to a long term injury, and some unfortunately never do.

As for Freeman, he was a good player last year, but we already have options in that position and Flynn has been excelling there recently. He will likely end up on the bench.

Neither would be terrible signings but it's questionable how much of an immediate impact they would make on the team, which is what we need.

We need to sign heroes not bit part players

I didn't rate Freeman during his last stay and whilst I'm not the biggest fan of Alcock at RB, I think I'd prefer Flynn to continue there if resources to be spent on Freeman were instead concentrated on recruiting to other positions i.e. CM and CF.

Coutts:
if it wasn't for his injury he'd be beyond us - see Wallace
big, strong, quality ball carrying midfielder - see Wallace
They even look alike!

Freeman is definitely better going forward and I think he'd end up being first choice right back.

If McEveley is now first choice centre half, Freeman would probably be cover for left back as well.

Do you think Freeman is an improvement on Flynn though? Or do you think Clough will move Flynn back to RM to compete with Coutts and have Alcock as backup to Freeman?

If so I can see the logic in that. Flynn has done well at RB but Freeman is far more experienced in that position as it's his natural role. Which raises the question would Coutts be a better RM than Flynn or would he be a backup?

There's Ben Davies to come back too, seems both Freeman and Coutts are right sided players so what would happen with Alcock, Flynn, Davies...?

We are still screaming out for a midfield general and a quality striker..

I think he's physically more robust, more experienced, better in the air and a bit quicker than Flynn. I agree that Flynn has done well, Fleetwood match apart, but I think Freeman would be a better long term option.

If Clough wants to continue playing the current system I think Coutts would be playing centrally.

How anyone can say Paul Coutts would be an underwhelming squad player is beyond me. Yes he has had a bad injury but if he had not he would probably be in the Prem now.

Some of our fans need to be realistic with where we are in the football pyramid. Paul Coutts, if we can get him, would be a wonderful signing and better than any we have got.

Still, not like to let people to have a misinformed dig at Clough or the club is it??

My uncle is a derby season ticket holder, says coutts is a crackin player and that most derby fans would agree. Freeman would be a good deal imo, we know what he can do and it's not a bad 2nd choice RB since the beard is out of reach
