Oh FFS quit whining. You sound like a teenage girl who just got dumped. I'm proud that I had the bollocks to point out a player who I see as a cheat, if you have a problem with that then why not discuss it with your new friend

Looks like you need a new avatar too, you hardly come across as a budding revolutionary.
You could say it in a nicer way, but actually you can't. Old habits die hard. Happy Christmas.

Not bad. Easy train ride to WHL. Better for getting away from the ground afterwards as well.

Turkey Street is another options.

To be honest the two leg semi final games are going to cost us fans a boat load of money ,especially after christmas. I have come to the point after last Saturdays match at the lane , I just want a good game of football which is value for money , and glad I went.

A winning result for the blades , quite frankly would be a bonus.

We go to football to watch football , let's hope us blades fans are not disappointed ,and it's the cup side that turns up , and not the league side.

That was a good match. After a goalless 1st half, John Duncan and Peter Taylor put Spurs 2 up before Keith Edwards and Gary Hamson levelled matters.

My first Blades v Spurs match was a 2-2 draw too but in Sept 1971 (attendance was over 40,000 as Blades were top of the league that time). Billy Dearden gave us the lead after a mix-up between Mike England and Pat Jennings. Martin Peters equalised in injury time of the 1st half (ref blew for half time immediately after), Stewart Scullion headed in a Geoff Salmons cross to restore our lead but in injury time (again!) Alan Gilzean headed in a Martin Chivers long throw. footage can be seen below (between 2.07 and 3.07)

Proper football, proper kits, proper crowds and no diving.

Not one incident of feigning injury either.

No one under 35 has experienced proper football, feel sorry for them but it will never come back.

Exactly. Who needs grass to play on anyway?

You missed 'proper away days' when getting home without a kicking was a bonus!

Funny that. I'm 48 and when I was a young lad in the 70's, all the old blokes were saying I had never seen "proper football" what with these new light weight balls, the abolition of charging goalies and over paid (some were o £100 a week!!!) players with their long hair, short shorts and kissing each other like poofters.

Plus ca change....

Growing up and living where I do I have a lot of friends who are Spurs fans and they have always been a real mystery to me. They have always tried to convince me that they would far rather lose every game and play fantastic football winning nothing than grind out boring 1-0 wins each week and win trophies. They always cry poverty and that all the other teams around them spend far more money though I think in reality each transfer window they tend to be amonst the biggest spenders in the league. I really enjoyed going into school the morning after we won 6-0 back in 93.

Depends if you are talking net spend or not. We are among the lowest NET spenders in the Premier League.
Semantics.

I am one of those that prefers watching attractive/entertaining football than grinding out tedious 1-0 wins (AVB) - when you are laying out £40-£50 a week, its not that much to ask for.

How much you spend doesn't dictate how disappointed you end up trust me :)

Keith Burkinshaw your favourite ever manager? His teams were attacking minded although he was managing Spurs when they got relegation in 1977

Aren't you the team that spent over £100 million in one transfer window, from the transfer of a player who shall remain nameless :)
We on the other hand sell our best defender, for around £2.5 million and are yet to see so much as extra sauce bottles in the snack bars around the ground :(
As for attractive football, if we were firmly ensconced in the premiership then yes I'd agree as it will still, given half decent players yield enough points to stay competitive top half, but where we are ATM tedious 1-0 wins are necessary, to get out of this shit hole league, we can beat teams like villa, foolham and saints without it being a travesty , but Crawley town etc we batter, on the whole but fail to do them over.
I'm just hoping for a good two legs from two teams that should respect each other if only from a historical view point, and also hope it's not "over" after first leg.
Good luck spurs except of course vs us :)

I did see us play under Billy Nick but from my formative years i would have to say Burkinshaw was my favourite.

As i say, we are big spenders but net, we are among the lowest. Nothing wrong with 1-0 wins when needs must! 4-3s are better though!

Bloody hell mate ..... is that what a ticket costs at Spurs ? You guys should revolt !!

We don't need expensive nets, we hardly ever use them :)

Not like the old days, Hodgy, Free expression of football. Uncategorisable. Is that a word? It is now! You know? Far cry from small boys in the park, jumpers for goalposts. Rush goalie. Two at the back, three in the middle, four up front, one's gone home for his tea. Beans on toast? Possibly, don't quote me on that. Marvellous.

I remember a quote from Burkinshaw after he signed the two Argentinians, where he said he felt that he and Ossie Ardiles spoke the same language. That was a strange thing for a bloke from Barnsley to come out with, but I suppose they may have had a Spanish enclave round Dodworth way :-)

Danny Baker had Ardiles and Villa on his Saturday morning show not long ago and they did the sausage sandwich challenge, where the people taking part have to choose red sauce or brown sauce as a condiment. Ardiles had to explain in Spanish to Villa what brown sauce was for him to make his choice :-)

I remember when Ricky & Ossie first came to the club it had to be explained to them why having red cars was unacceptable. We dont do red.

Careful Marty baby, if you're anything like Dr Who you'll run out of regenerations soon.

I remember doing the WHL stadium tour many years ago and we got to a place where all the Spurs players were listed with their international appearances and there was a glaringly obvious name missing. I was the only one to spot that Villa's name was not there, apparently he never played for Argentina while at Spurs.

I remember that game mainly for that Martin Peters header..I was on the Kop,and my Dad had been going on about Peters being the one who could be a danger..then just before half time he ghosts in with a header..and it always stuck in my mind...I'd forgotten what a great goal Scullion scored with the header..remember been gutted with that late Gilzean equaliser...Great find that SB,I never knew there was any coverage of that game...loved football back then, still do,but prefer those days with the packed terracing, the noise, and some great football...times move on though.

I saw Spurs play us a few times, the first being in 1961. Spurs were the best team in the land bar none. They played us in a mid-week game and I was surrounded by a number of Wednesday players who were challenging Spurs for the league' top spot, strangely they cheered when United scored and we cheered when Spurs scored to wind them up.

I think that was when they did the league and FA Cup double, a great team full of REAL stars.

1961 is a little bit before my time but that really was a team of legends,
