As much as we can moan about all the bad luck we've had down the years, the big games we've blown, getting relegated out of nowhere etc. at least it's never dull being a Blade.

The Pig fans are always banging on about how they're the bigger club and all that nonsense, yet when you look back over the past 20 years or so, they really haven't had much excitement, it must be pretty boring being a Wednesdayite - no wonder they have to talk themselves up. They had the Cup finals in '93, league cup semi in '01, play of win in '05 and then the promotion in '12. Other than that, every season they've had has just been a mid to lower table bore.

In the 23 years I've been watching United I've witnessed, and we've been involved in:

1993 FA Cup Semi at Wembley
1997 Play Off Final at Wembley
1998 FA Cup Semi at Old Trafford
1998 Play Off Semi
2003 FA Cup Semi at Old Trafford
2003 League Cup Semi
2003 Play Off Final - Cardiff
2006 Promotion to the Premier League
2009 Play Off Final at Wembley
2012 Play Off Final at Wembley
2013 Play Off Semi
2014.....?????

Granted we f@#k up at the final hurdle, but at least something exciting is going on the majority of seasons and we've played on some big stages. Even the seasons between 2003 and 2006 we were in the hunt for the Play Off's right until the end of the season. The pigs have never been anywhere near the Championship play off's.

We've had our disappointments, but we've also had a bloody good amount of exciting times and memories over the years...

...here's hoping we get another one in April!

Dont try and tell some weve had some good times , it wont wash, doesnt fit in with their outlook
4 cup semi finals in 21 years , when we overcome Charlton would be phenominal for a team outside the prem, or in the bottom 5 of the prem for one

I can add 2014 FA Cup Semi and now..

2015 - League Cup Semi

..to the above.

Never dull being a Blade, just about every season we have some excitement. Must be so boring being a Wendy fan.

Well done Cloughy, keep it up!

I was thinking about this last night but in the context of individual games. How many thrilling matches (especially cup ties) have we had under the lights during that time? When the big game comes around The Lane always delivers for atmosphere and entertainment, and more often than not a memorable result.

Do other teams get this? I can imagine Man Utd and Arsenal have had some good ones with the CL and the number of domestic cup finals they've been in, but who else?

Yep. Under the floodlights the big games always seem special, more so than on a Saturday afternoon. Last night matched the Arsenal game when Jags went in goal for me. We were a Premier League side then, now we're a Division Three club (that's seen off four out of five Premier League sides in one year).

Nights like that make it special to be a Blade.

Bloke sat next to me said that, under Clough we've played 17 Cup games (FA and CC. Not fucking JPT) won 13, drawn 3 and lost one (Hull) against a load of PL teams.

Add to that Battle of Bramall Lanegate ,Evansgate ,Tevezgate ,Warnock ,Basset ,Clough ,we are a journalists dream.
