I think it is important as Brayford showed last season. His attacking play gave us another dimension when we were struggling to break defensive opponents down. So did Lowton when we scored nearly 100 goals.
It's not just the formation. It's the fact that more often than not in this division, opponents are happy to sit back against us and soak up the pressure. Having a full back who doesn't have the ability to get forward and create (e.g. McMahon) is a luxury we can't afford.
Absolutely right, but does Clough agree? I don't see our full backs pushing on very often. I think it's a problem with playing two wingers because the space out wide is taken.
