It's a big step up for him but Dwight Gayle, Charlie Austin and Jamie Vardy have shown how far non-league strikers can go if given a chance.

Never complained about signing talent but is he what we desperately need right now, a striker ?

Not one header at goal amongst the lot and the shots are all from out side the box so we can only hope he's better at hitting the target than the rest of our Mid-field / wingers.

The key words there mate are if given the chance.Now we have players here already that imo should be given more of a chance,so why would this lad be any different to the ones we already have?

If Clough isn't picking players he must have his reasons, even if they're difficult to fathom sometimes. He has plenty of time to look at and judge these players so he must see something that puts him off. Obviously he sees something he does like in Adams. It's possible that he's better than what we already have, or at least has the potential to be, only time will tell.

I agree with you that some players deserve more of a chance. In my opinion, DeGirolamo should start in his natural position, even if only for a few games or until Higdon or McNulty are fit again. However, I'm still interested to see what Adams is like. There was a lot of interest in him, apparently from teams above us. Clearly people in the know rate him.

I look forward to any new signing mate,especially an up and coming youngster from non-league,i know there are some gems out there and i'm willing to give the lad a chance as with everyone who graces our land.The thing is we need someone now,not for the future,and this signing is quite clearly for the future imo,i hope i'm wrong and he gets his chance.

The first thing that struck me was their Chairman saying they couldn't stand in his way :-)

I assume you mean game-changing, which is ironic because our game-changing investment should have meant that we don't need to take a punt on a non-league striker.

The video of his goals suggest that defending is a bit of a lost art in the Evo Stik league, but the lad looks to have something about him. Imagine, a striker who shoots now and again......
 
Anyone who thinks NC doesn't give youth a chance should ask 17 year old Lewis Reed and any number of youngsters at Derby.

Some of you just don't get it. It's up to the player (whether young or old) to prove themselves - it's not the fucking X Factor.

Maybe, just maybe, Diego isn't quite the world beater that some of you like to believe he is? How's Young Joe doing these days? Altogether now: Ironside....Ironside....
 

The lad certainly looks a good prospect- the problem is we need a goalscorer NOW.

We need someone who can go straight into the starting 11 and pick up the pace of the game. No good just giving him the odd game here and there and hoping he will be a success in 2 months time - we will have chucked another 10 points away by then.

That was Warnock's tactics in the January transfer window in 07 and look where that got us.

agreed pinchy a lot of well meaning blades name these young lads without even seeing them play .if they listen to cloughy
he watches youth matches +under 21 games and talks of there being a big gap between youth football and the physical nature of 1st team football the gap is massive and you have to trust cloughy and his coaching staff to know when a youngster
is ready to cope with the rigours of 1st divsion football you can destroy a young players confidence if you push them in too soon he is an experienced manager and if any young player would do a better job you can bet he would play him.
he has a good track record bringing young players through leave it to him!.

You can also destroy an young players confidence by starting him in a South Yorkshire derby for his full debut him getting mom starting at tranmere again being the best player in the squad then the next season him being nowhere near with no explanation. Not very good man management if you ask me

Free roaming around behind the front line....he's scored most of his goals picking the ball up anywhere from the centre circle onwards and just going for it.
Once he gets going he's a bugger to stop.

How about box to box role in a 4-1-4-1, i.e. one holding midfielder and the other two central lads expected to work up and down? What are his weaknesses?

That should suit him very well but don't expect him to be the "playmaker" type spraying it about and dictating a game.

A few things that might also be of interest:

*(if this is still relevant now he's joined you). He's been picked for the final squad of 16 England "C" non league team due to play at Halifax against Estonia this Tuesday. A good opportunity for some of you to have a look at him I'd have thought.
*Our skipper Joe Maguire is Harry's brother.
*He's left now but Rob Kozluk was a coach at our Academy last season and had a fair bit to do with Che's development
