Have yet to see a poor match between Blades and Southampton . Seen the Blades win 3-2 , 4-2 (twice) , 3-0 . Southampton should be the blue print / benchmark for the Blades , regarding progression into the promised land of the PL . Both clubs have a good youth set up and fantastic support base . Blades to win 3-2 . Southampton a more skilful side , but with the Blades support , players commitment , mental strong attitude , we will win a great game of football , with a full house on the night.

Hello Sheffield Utd fans...'Saint' Cheefy here

I see your in a Playoff spot at the mo

I feel a bit like the Glasweigian at the Empire, watching Bernie Winters start the show, to stony silence. Eventually his brother Mike arrives on stage and the audience member says:- " Oh, God, there's two of them! "

Welcome "Saint" Cheefy :)

PS Your what in a play off spot?

Aug 1971 (h) won 3-1 (Woody pen, Salmons, Flynn). 2nd half was played in a thunderstorm

Sept 1972 (h) won 3-1 (Woody, Dearden 2)
Sept 1973 (a) lost 3-0. My dad took me and my three mates from my boarding school which was a hour drive away to Southampton
Dec 1973 (h) won 4-2 (Woody 3, TC). Furphy's 1st home game as new manager
Sept 1976 (a) drew 1-1 (Ludlam) . After the game Mick Channon and Lawrie McMenemy refused to sign their autograph when my schoolmate asked them
Sept 1990 (a) lost 2-0. Le Tissier magic opened the scoring. Vinny Jones debut

which school was that?

That Gannon penalty was appalling. He almost hit the clock at the Bramall Lane end. I remember that day well - it was very foggy. Booker's 2 goals was one of the highlights of the season. It was also one of Mark Todd's rare appearances that year, and he played very well.

The October 1992 game saw a very cool finish from Ade. Danny Wainwright, who never played a game for us, was sub keeper.

The March 1994 game was one of a number of 0-0 draws we'd probably have won that year had we not sold Deano. We just could not put the ball in the net.

This will be a tough match. Really looking forward to it. Masses of respect for Southampton's progress from the third tier.

I would like us to get the opportunity of pitting ourselves against Chelsea. Clough v Mourinho would be a spectacle. If we could get to the final and meet Chelsea it would be 100 years since the Khaki Cup Final which we won 3-0.

Very appropriate with all the commemoration events taking place.

Southampton's progress from the 3rd tier has been done on the back of all the creditors they screwed for millions when they went into admin.

Its not quite as simple a that according to this article. Its a long read but in there somewhere it says MarkusL paid all debts to everyone...including tax...It also a little out of date but goes into the finance thing in a big way...and I dont understand half of it...

I think we have a good chance here of an upset, looking at the big picture do saints want a cup, or do they fancy a tilt at the champions league?...

Somwhere along the road a call will be made about what the realistic targets are for saints, or do you believe that managers don't throw games for the sake of a bigger target?

Some might say that west ham should have beat us comfortably at home, but low and behold we beat them on pens and out they went, didn't appear to affect their season too negatively though did it...

Cup runs work two ways, players get up for the bigger challenges if they are league one players and wanna see how far they can go in the competition, and raise thier game in order to make sure they get picked for the big cup games, or getting out of the cups keeps them fresh, limits the chances of injuries, and allows them to focus on something bigger...

I personally wanted us out of the cups, I think its a long season as it is, and two cup runs will hurt our chances of going up this season, but, we appear to need the money from these games and the club want to go as far as they can, so that's that.

Remember how the cups cost warnock, and what happened the season after??

Thats simply not true.

Markus Liebherr paid the creditors of the holding company and there was no need for a CVA.

In full? Every single penny they were owed? 100p in the £?

As I said, no CVA was needed. CVA's are where you get penny in the £ offers, Markus Liebherr left the creditors happy.

Legally Southampton Football Club has never entered administration, the holding company did. The football club was one of many assets of the holding company.

Unlike Portsmouth where both the holding company and football club entered administration. Portsmouth also diluted their debt massively, £130m+ diluted to 20p in the pound CVA, that CVA failed and they diluted it to 4p in the £ with another CVA. End result Pompey's creditors got a tiny % of what they were owed. 4% of 20% of £130m+.

If you want a stick to beat Southampton with... this isn't it.

Infraction given - personal abuse is against the rules.

The major creditors perhaps. But not, I suspect, the small creditors whose votes were not as large as the banks and others. Why bring Portsmouth into it, this isn't a thread about them? They are getting what they deserve now. Btw, I know what a fucking CVA is you patronising cunt.

There weren't creditor votes as no CVA was needed, the football club never legally entered admin.

The Football League made the rules up as they went along to screw the club for 10 points.

I used Pompey as an example because both their holding company and football club legally entered admin, something which didn't happen at Saints, so its not like for like.

really no need for that

To be fair, they have rebounded magnificently. Nowt against 'em as a club, but I object to being told what a CVA is.
