First ever player to score for United in 3 separate spells. Other 3 spell.players (Deane, Sharp and Harley) only scored in 2.
Has Wilder finally woke up! Diaz is not a winger and he really put a shift in last night.
He played down the middle for us in thr prem and scored goals! Big awkward bugger and must be used there again.
Did we miss Bamford? Not for me.

Would like to see Diaz and Bamford together up front with Seriki and Donovan out wide. Would be interesting to see Seriki and Choudary together too might get more than the sum of the parts and gives flexibility down the right. Still not convinced about Chong but credit to him he always seems to put a shift in.

He's hopefully managed to escape the shackles of the wide left position...the graveyard for many a player in modern footie

I wonder if CW will keep to his logic for the Derby game and stick with the players who played well against Wrexham for the Preston game?
Or will he partner BBD with Bamford?

Playing BBD as anything other than a centre forward is mental.

He always looked a goal threat for Blackburn playing there and scored 7 goals in a loan spell in the horrendous 2023/24 PL season.

When he plays as a winger he looks like he’s got his boots on the wrong feet. Reminded me of watching Blackwell playing Richard Cresswel, proven Championship goalscorer and target man, as a left winger.

Play BBD as a centre forward and he’ll score 10 goals minimum

Yep that's it, that is exactly what it reminds me of.

BBD far more useful and effective centrally as a forward. He doesn't have the pace required to play out on the wing. He is still in his 20's, he isn't cooked at this level if you play him in the right position.

As I kept saying during the transfer window, Wilder should have signed another winger like JRS on loan.

Since modern football science seems to always start with one player up top, everyone else, save the keeper, needs a side.

BBD with Ayew behind was a great combination last night. Hopefully we can stick to this formula.
And it gets Donovan on the pitch.
bbd upfront with bamford in behind linking play up could be a very interesting set up for me chong is our weak link imo start at preston like we finished against wrexham with seriki if fit in front of choudray down the right

I’d wondered that, but Bamford is our main goal threat, and can score with his eyes shut, so seems awkward holding him behind.

For the life of me I can't remember its Brereton not Bereton ( like Beneton ) .

Its hardly cause to bench him but its a close call .

He’s wank LM/RM

Either needs to play as a wide forward in a narrow 433 or stret down middle

Anywhere but stood on the half way line
It’s the same with Cannon and we should be playing our players in their preferred positions. Yes BBD “can do a a job” at LM/RM in the way he is a name on the team sheet.

It would sad for Choudhury if he continues to be castigated for his efforts at right back, and never gets a chance to play in his preferred midfield enforcer role.
He might get a chance to play there at PNE if Philips doesn't recover from the ankle injury he got on Friday.

Good call.

if we continue just to have 2 midfielders in our formation we need one of the front 2 to drop deeper like ayew did friday just think bamford is ideal for that role he will still get goals just need to start on the front foot every game like friday night having said that we wont play many teams worse than wrexham they were awful
