The best players who never played at Bramall Lane?

[Lane Ender]

Bedlam on BL after that. My dad had to drag a gawping 12 year old away from watching the punch ups!

The away fixture was tasty earlier on in that season

Hi mate, who's the player with his arm raised in the
photo please?

Its the celebration of Tony Kenworthys equaliser in what seemed the 15th minute of injury time against Wigan on 24/9/83.

We were rubbish that day and were 2-0 down going into the final couple of minutes. Edwards then got one back and we suddenly woke up. We had chance after chance which we missed and it seemed the ref wasnt going to blow until we scored.

Finally, a corner saw Kenworthy rise at the back post and nod in. The ref then blew just after Wigan kicked off.

Looking back it was probably only 5 mins or so into injury time, but absent some serious injury having happened injury time only generally lasted 1-2 mins back then and no added time at all was not uncommon. So 5 mins or so seemed an age.

[MadDad38]

Guessing Henry was injured in 06/07 home game?

I remember he played at the Emirates.

Yes - I think Julio Baptista (on loan from Real Madrid) was their centre forward. I had a great view of the winner standing with my Arse-supporting mate in the away end

[Blade In Flame]

Don’t think Eusabio ever played at BL

Lev Yashin

I like a player who plays wearing a flat cap. Looks like he's just been dragged out of the local Working Men's Club on a Sunday afternoon to go in goal.

[GreasyChipBeattie]

Mick Henderson sat a few rows behind me in the South Stand last Saturday

Please allow me a little one-upmanship here mate.
He was my defensive partner on Friday at Vets football!
He's still got it by the way!!

[1973Blade]

Ray McHale

He's Harry Kane's age there!

[SteveH]

Di Canio?
Zola?

[Stand United]

Sure he did during his second spell at Spurs? think he scored past us as well.

He scored a hat trick in the loss at theirs in his 2nd spell. Unused sub for the game at Bramall Lane.

[Wards]

Di Canio?
Zola?

Zola definitely did, it may have been a friendly but I remember him being clapped off by Unitedites.

[Selly]

I reckon Hoddle would have played at the lane in the pre-season fixture v Spurs in 1984.

Did Hoddle play in our 1-0 win over Chelsea in 93/94 - I know he played in the return (because he flicked on the ball for Steins winner)

Must have been a friendly - Zola was at Chelsea between 96 and 2003 - during which time we did not play them competitively.

No. It was Mrs Silent's first match!

[tincan]

Maradona should have had a career at bdtbl, but United said nah and a 17yr old was not worth it. Had he signed would we have sold him to Leeds and then gone to the 4th division, would there ever have been a hand of god ......

[Melbourne Blade]

Jamie Shackleton?

But in all seriousness I can't recall Thierry Henry ever playing at the lane?

[1973Blade]

Congratulations to Harry Kane - one of the few Ballon D'Or winners to have played at Bramall Lane.

What a find!

[Silent Blade]

What a find!

I was at the match. I didnt know any of the Kiev players at the time. When Blokhin won the award in 1975 it didnt really register to me that I had already seen him play until I read an article in Flashing Blade years later.

[CPB]

Me. Because as a child I dream't of being the best we had ever had.

[sportsmanblade]

Jaap Stam

[sportsmanblade]
