yes can relate to all that youve said there snake came through the same era there was something special about those days on the shoreham in the 60s and 70s packed in at the top of the kop often with opposing fans only seperated from us by police at either edge of the 2 groups and 10 yards of no man's land early 70s especially manic with battles against newcastle chelsea and wednesday only leeds (once 74 ) and man utd ( every time ) took the shoreham oh and wednesday once in county cup game when none of our lot turned up never in league or cup games despite the pigs claims all of this is in ronnie sharp's 2 brilliant books about being a united fan in the old days utb fto ⚔️⚔️⚔️
70s was for me the best time to be a Blade the 74/75 side being the best
Mitch and I spent hours reminiscing about those days not much about the football :)

The name came about during the weekend relegation trip to Cambridge in 79. Around 8 of us traveled down Friday afternoon in a mates work van, the firms name was Lazorlight and he managed to borrow the van for most of the away games in the 78/79 season. The van was small, holding around 6 comfortable, 8 with a bit of a crush, 10 with a big squash. It had the name 'Lazorlight Sheffield.' on both sides, we called it 'Lazorlight tours.'
We met up with a coach load of mates at opening time Friday teatime and throughout the early evening scores of Blades arrived in cars, vans and mini-buses. As the night wore on, things started to get more and more rowdy. Fights with the locals broke out, pub windows got put through. To cut it short, all the full coach of Blades were arrested, not that they were all guilty, the coppers simply waited till the night clubs shut and the coach filled up, they made the driver drive to the cop shop and locked the lot up.
Back to Mitch, the lazorlight lads did a night club, Mitch said he was knackered and left the club early after getting the key from the driver. We arrived back and could hear snoring before we opened the back door. Mitch was sprawled out on his back filling most of the van. Keeny said 'Look at the state of Mitch, laid out like a fucking basking shark.'
After the match, on the way to Yarmouth, for what reason I can't imagine, the conversation turned to the ITV newsreader Reginald Bosanquet, don't forget we were all completely insane at the time and after a play on words for a while, we started calling each other Reg, or Reginald, when it came to Mitch the name Reginald Basking Shark seemed perfect and the name stuck.

Apart from Walsall Cambridge was the most I’ve been disappointed at a match.
The bollocks before and after was some of the best

Remember a Blade in Yarmouth after the game putting his boot through a plate glass window and nearly severing his foot.

Fantastic story mate, and relays exactly how carefree life was back then. We never in a million years considered paying for a hotel or whatever during trips away. We used to just doss in the car or van. We'd even take a change of clothes etc .... park the car up on a side road, go back after game and get changed into our 'pulling' gear, quick clean of teeth and spray of aftershave, then off we went on the prowl. We'd return in the early hours following the club and curry. Quick couple of hours kip then drive back home. No mobile phone, no facebook, or internet, no nowt. We lived in the moment, and shared the stories amongst our inner group. No wannabees or pseudo celebs back then. Just lads actually having a good time, not faking it to show hundreds of virtual friends what a fantastic life we've got.

Just how it was parked up Friday night headed back Sunday morning loved those London games

When the match was underway there were Blades fans climbing over the walls onto the open terrace.
That also happened at Saltergate, the wall was about 8 foot tall with Blades on the top hauling people up and in
