A clear improvement noted

Was better but we were playing what was in front of us and they were awful. We just took advantage.

It was a sarcastic post mate. Aimed at those who whine every week.

Im a huge Wilder fan and I always will be.
I think the more regular posters on this forum could obviously see your posts were a bit of sarcasm mate. My original post wasn't specifically aimed at you there are certain posters who only come on here to wind up others with a different view I don't consider you to be one of them, that said it works both ways when we lose some of the anti Wilder lot pile on just to wind people up too. Those that don't read the forum so often maybe couldn't see the humour in your posts. Bringing back Chris Wilder was always going to be divisive, one man running the whole show can work but the higher you go up the food chain the more staff are needed I just don't see the club modernising with Chris having his finger in every pie.

Since the break there is a clear improvement noted in application by the team. Harder working, more strong in defence in 2 games of 3, and two wins that ought to have been 3.
Acknowledge this improvement and cheer Jordan ,Ben, and the lads along every inch of the way. We cannot know how much work Chris has put in these recent weeks. A lot I'd say.
Somehow the team are working better and it's down to Wilder. See it.
Say it.
He's sorted it.
⚽️ 🥅 ⚽️ 6 goals. Three matches. Two 🏆 wins.
Great performance by Mark McGuinness.
Gerrin Arblaster...gooooooooooooaallllll. ⚽️
Steady lad we’ve just played three more crap than us teams one (Bristol) who haven’t scored at home in six games

Despite generally being underwhelmed/annoyed/pissed with performances, if you take the Stoke and Portsmouth games and flip the results (as we should have won both), we'd be sat in 4th!

Still want Wilder sacked. Dinosaur. Wasted money on crap like Bamford, Kitching, BBD, Phillips when we should be signing young foreign players from abroad and league One; the money is there, Wilder's just a puppet for this board and wants to sign his pals for drinking games as they get the culture of the club.

In a way disappointed we've won, as he stays in a job now for longer.
If we were more gentrified we'd've won 2-0 or 3-0.

Performances have picked up as fitness issues have started to improve. Utterly predictable for most I would've thought. Still big misses with Burrows and Seriki either unavailable or not at 100% Bamford is also carrying an issue. Campbell and Jairo look way of it. I expected to be in deep shit at this point so I'm actually really happy. The next 3 games could have us dreaming of the play offs (yes, really) but I don't want to get my hopes up too much.

I can assure you I'm not depressed.
At the end off the day United come first (isn't that what every Blade wants) no way would I want United too lose just so I can come on here and moan about Wilder.
The old saying goes one swallow dosent make a summer, but a good 3 points today. I look forward too Derby next Saturday, hopefully the football won't send me to sleep like the first half did against Lincoln.
No way would I want United TO lose

One swallow a summer doth not make

😉

Hopefully Seriki gets back up to speed and adds another dimension/option tactically, burrows looked good yesterday, Phillips and Arblaster partnership was also encouraging to watch.

If players can stay fit and get back to form the likes of Campbell, Reidewald, Shackleton and even Rothwell are looking increasingly like wasted wages unfortunately. Some investment in January is still needed to sort out the balance of the squad, still believe we’re a wide player and striker short, far too many central midfield options.

If we're gonna persist with a high press all game,we could do with keeping back 4/5 on all game, and change midfield and frontmen on ,say 60 mins, making fresh players available to carry on same..just sayin'..

Sorry but while I'm delighted we won we still have a very limited manager.
I know you're not a fan. Totally entitled to your opinion Broomhall as we all are.

I obviously disagree but I will admit this. If we are to establish ourselves in the top flight, which is obviously the aim, then we're going to need either a super rich owner like Forest etc, and/or a recruitment model that CAN utilise the foreign market because that's where the quality is. That will probably need a foreign manager or a manager with extensive contacts abroad. A recruitment model which can utilise the South American market like Brighton have done is now an essential not a bonus for clubs who are not spending over £100m every summer on the best obvious players.

The PL has moved on dramatically even since we were there under Wilder in our first spell. Signing free transfers like Fleck, Stevens and Duffy will no longer achieve sustainable PL status. Saying all that, Hull have sort of disproved that but I think, like us, it will not be sustainable even if they do stay up this season. But had Wilder not been sacked we all know McBurnie would be with us.

Our recruitment model for the 15 - 20 age bracket is class however and has proved immensely successful.

Who is this SHACKLETON you speak of🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

I've been very vocal in the last few weeks about what I perceive to be poor managerial performance.

But as happens so often on this forum, when you speak on certain subjects your are then pigeon holed.

It is possible to;

  • Love Chris Wilder and respect him for what he's achieved with us
  • Have issues with his team selections
  • Have issues with his tactical decisions
  • Be happy when we win and acknowledge aspects of our improving performance
  • Criticise recruitment
  • Support the players
  • Believe that we can be so much better in every aspect

None of these are mutually exclusive.

An excellent post that. I'm very much black and white as many will know from how I post but I do think that some of your points of frustration are valid. Dave Basset used to get critised for example back in the early and certainly mid 90's but I always thought he was pretty much beyond criticism given the lack of budget.

I do wish for more imaginative recruitment at times but as per previous posts I think this summer was an incredibly difficult market given an obvious restructure from above and a severe cutting of the cloth. Im hoping that we at the very least stay up this season and then next season can push a little more, hopefully make some decent permanent signings.

I'd still have Wilder in charge, definitely. But he needs backing.

And in the longer term, yes, we definitely need more foreign recruitment but it's got to be better than what we've done before which appeared to be more the boards signings than Wilder's. I.e Retos, Zivkovic and that dutch goalkeeper who I can't even remember his name!

I still think he has some major flaws and mostly in recruitment and some of his tactics and selections can be crap. Him not being able to see beyond on the British Isles for players is the long term flaw that will hold the club back even if we get ourselves a CAT 1 academy and improve the structure of the club off the pitch. His interviews where he has taken subtle digs at supporters and sometimes is telling us a different story to the match we just watched. Fans want to see results, performances and be entertained not hear a lot of waffle about culture carriers.

That said despite how annoyed I get with him, I am at a loss for ideas on who I'd replace him with given the current circumstances at the club. He will likely get the most out of this group of players over the season, he might be starting to land on a settle side now barring any injuries based on recent matches. He did finally admit the other week he hadn't been good enough himself and I respect him for finally saying that publicly. He doesn't actually have to do that much to win supporters like myself back onside that he has lost over the years but he can't bullshit the fanbase like has been doing at times and having Danny Hall running defence for him in the press.

I’d agree with all of that, and also add the following for complete balance:
When deserved, it is also possible to;
  • praise Chris Wilder for his team selections
  • praise Chris Wilder for his tactical decisions
  • praise recruitment

All of the above without fear of being called a Wilderette or similar, and with clear licence to offer a completely opposing view the week after depending on observed events. It’s called being a balanced grown up, and the lack of it on this forum becomes wearisome.
