It's unusual for Wilder to chase a player, sign them, then not give them much game time..

Don't know about that, the amount of time he chases someone for results in them being way past their sell by date by the time they eventually arrive here. Rothwell being an obvious recent example

You're absolutely off your head 😂 another player who's been in this country since his career began

Since 16/17, list of players signed directly from foreign clubs wirh Wilder as manager/in charge of senior recruitment, who've not already played in England - I think I've covered them all

16-19 none
19/20 Sander Berge, Michael Verrips, Richairo Živković, Panagiotis Retsos
2020/21 Ismaila Coulibaly
2024/25 Jefferson Caceres
1 starter

Playing devil’s advocate here, but we had our most successful spell when he had signed none.

The post you replied to on Saturday had Grbic and Nwachuku on it.

Grbic is the other who was brought in as a starter, thought I'd forget one. Chucky was signed by Bord but delayed due to permit issues

Wilder will occasionally sign foreign players with significant UK experience. Then there was Berge. That's pretty much the sum of it

Looks like you forgot Grbic again in your second paragraph 😅

Do you think Chris Wilder enjoys signing and working with foreign players? If he does, why doesn't he do it more often?
More often?
You claimed I was a nutcase for listing foreign signings.
This is a thread about Jack Clarke.
Can't you keep your Chris Wilder obsession to the Chris Wilder thread you've already opened?

It's fine, I didn't expect an answer from you, because you already know
The moment anyone makes you look stupid you don't respond to their comment

I've responded to posts with facts and you've bravely responded with insults.

100% true. But that was based on signing players from L1 and L2 who had something to prove after dropping down levels and rebuilding. Athletic grown ups with tactical discipline. We don't do that anymore
Yeah I totally agree btw!

It's going to be Hjelde, BBD, Riedewald, Ayew. All UK based players who've been here for years
Is this a Wilder thing or just a Sheffield United thing. I've not looked but I'd wager you'd struggle to list 30 players in our entire history that we have signed for the first team from a foreign league. Not that I'm saying thats a good thing

If you think they're insulting you don't live in the real world

Do you understand grey areas or is literally everything in your life so black and white?

We've certainly not embraced that route the way others have. Although Warnock would sign anyone from anywhere!!

It's just frustrating when Anel and Souza were such huge parts of the 24/25 team and the current manager would have been extremely unlikely to consider signing them in the first place and believed £10m on a player like Cannon to be a better bet, based purely on a passport.

That's actually mental - only Berge actually made any contribution as well

When he presents Moyes' Everton as the model to aspire to... you just despair.

There's so much more recent history of clubs going up and staying up by exploring foreign markets, particularly searching for the physical, athleticism that the PL requires. Have a look at Sunderland, who his team lost to in the play-off final through negative tactics. Brighton. Brentford. Bournemouth. Leeds. Forest.

You'd be harder pressed finding a successful club of our relative size that relies on a domestic-only policy.

Wilder is doing OK(ish), but he is a dinosaur and we won't progress into a club like any of the above with him at the helm... but we'd also need decent owners, which we don't have and never seem to attract.

I love how Australian and American are no longer classed as foreign.
I think people are just wanting to say Black players.
Wilder signed and mollycoddled Lys Mousset. He even managed to get the best out of him, but Chris won't get any credit.

Moose was already in the UK. Plus, we got about 10 good games out of him

With no sense of irony, the same poster accused Wilder of being xenophobic.
Hoppe is not traditionally an English surname.

My heart bleeds for the Everton fans - not replacing Ndiaye and only 5th in the Premier league.
