Addison said, in his summary, that we'd spent 500k on it to make it safe. It would need further extensive work next summer. And the decision had been made not to reopen it at the moment. So as far as we know there will be no work done this season and it will be closed until 2027-28 season (even though there is no prohibition on it opening)?
Please don’t represent me in any court !!Could it be that COH Sports don’t want to cough up the Yankee dollars to our former Saudi prince because he forgot to mention the leaky BLUT roof that’s going to cost them millions to fix, plus millions more in lost revenue from reduced capacity.
Coincidence? I think not.
I rest my case, Your Honour
Due diligence mate, due diligence...caveat emptor...and numerous other clichés.Could it be that COH Sports don’t want to cough up the Yankee dollars to our former Saudi prince because he forgot to mention the leaky BLUT roof that’s going to cost them millions to fix, plus millions more in lost revenue from reduced capacity.

More realistic than the OP in fairnessmine are telling me we sack wilder pigs sack pedersen and we swap gaffers lol

I think the roof issue may be being over exaggerated to make a point that some of the representations and warranties made during the deal aren’t 100% true.Could it be that COH Sports don’t want to cough up the Yankee dollars to our former Saudi prince because he forgot to mention the leaky BLUT roof that’s going to cost them millions to fix, plus millions more in lost revenue from reduced capacity.

Tingo construction services at your disposal. All aspects covered from surveys to design and build, all to the highest Nigerian safety standards.I think the roof issue may be being over exaggerated to make a point that some of the representations and warranties made during the deal aren’t 100% true.
I wonder if they could use a structural surveyor to put a cost to fix of £35m?!
That's what I suspect too. Keeping it closed makes the 'injustice" look worse.I think the roof issue may be being over exaggerated to make a point that some of the representations and warranties made during the deal aren’t 100% true.

Yeah - if we get Man Utd or Newcastle at home they both would 100% sell out…… that would no doubt create a big issue. My gut is we’d still keep it closed and argue the visiting capacity could not achieve the 15% mandatory requirement due to safety concerns. If our capacity is say reduced to 28,500 we’d have to find 4,275 - which would be a problem. Very unlikely I know - but that is where we’d find ourselves ( Sod’s Law says that this happens!!!)What happens if we get a home draw in the 3rd of t’cup to a big Prem team. Bet it gets fixed quick fucking sharpish.
Thanks for that, you have now shut this thread down. I was quite enjoying myself reading all the bat shit crazy conspiracy theories on here.A bit more information that I’ve managed to gather on exactly what happened and when that expands a bit on what Stephen Bettis said.
An initial issue was flagged in the usual annual checks made by the structural engineers appointed by the club. A question repeatedly asked in this thread was why didn’t the club sort out all of this in the summer then – this is exactly what the club had attempted to do, as the issue identified should have been able to sort in that period, but when the work started further issues were uncovered that required more substantial remedial work to fix. This more substantial work couldn’t have been all done in the summer.
The work Bettis said has been done so far does mean that should we choose to open it, it is safe to do so (albeit maybe less pleasant with the gaps from the work). There is no restriction that’s been put on club by the Council – the ongoing works are acknowledged in the club’s Safety Certificate for this season. The Council can impose restrictions if it’s deemed unsafe – this has not been done at any stage this season.
Bettis tbf said that the area could be reopened, but while the works are ongoing and attendances haven’t exactly been high this season for a variety of reasons, there isn’t really the pressure to do this. I’ve no doubt that if we did get a top PL club in the cup in January, or if before then our attendances consistently push the available capacity, it would be reopened.
This perhaps goes against what others on here have said on this, but my interpretation is the club if anything has suffered a bit from being proactive on this. The work involved initially before the larger issue was uncovered could, as I understand it, have been delayed a season – the club wanted to get the work done as soon as it could, and it’s because of that that the wider issue with the steel structure was identified that could seriously impact safety in the future if left unresolved. The question about whether the tier should be reopened is a legit one to debate, but I don’t think the process of uncovering the need for the works, and how they’ve responded to that, is something that should be up for debate.

It would depend on what warranties and representations were given in the documentation around the sale and whether the property was subject to inspection by COH or ‘sold as seen’ etc.If COH have been sold a stadium that needs 10 mill to fix im no lawyer but thats grounds to get the lawyers back involved

Without knowing the ins and outs it’s all speculation.
I think it's matters like this, possibly structured transfer payments due, possibly cost or work at the dore site and perhaps some debt structuring that they are disputing. If COH have been sold a stadium that needs 10 mill to fix im no lawyer but thats grounds to get the lawyers back involved
Not really. We are a bit more enlightened about what happened but the fact remains that home fans are now only on three sides of the ground and we have a big gaping empty stand where there should be home supporters. And we're keeping it closed for no good reason. Thanks for that, you have now shut this thread down. I was quite enjoying myself reading all the bat shit crazy conspiracy theories on here.![]()
The stand has been mostly empty for years, even when it was open. we've had some good away followings this year which have masked how much the attendance has dropped off from 2024.Can't see there being many spare seats elsewhere if it's closed on Saturday
