Taking a look at him on the pitch for the Lincoln game.....I was on the kop in the corner, close to where he was on the pitch.....

his intentions looked ok. Brave enough to go on the pitch, albeit unannounced.
Seemed completely unaware of Billy Sharp being announced while he was about to do the penalty shoot out with the kids. No idea or care for our history / identity.

I think he is holding the final payment because he now thinks there are problems that weren't seen eg. the crumbling Bramall Lane stand, that devalues the investment.
They do seem to be adding to the fan experience e.g. better screen graphics, fan park etc. I think his intentions are to improve the club in a cosmetic American way.

But....
He obviously took the wrong advice from Americans who don't know English 'Soccer'.
In his hagiographical interview to his mates, he called us they and them, not we and us. 'Blue collar' he said in a condescending way.
I think he doesn't get the club. You can give a veneer of American style vagazzle which is great, but we are not Chelsea or Tottenham. We want a team. The rest follows.

I worry that he has lost interest and we are in a holding pattern before selling.
He rolled the dice, didn't get a Premier League club and now doesn't have the stomach (cash) for a promotion push.

The best we can hope for is that we are in the top 10 by Christmas and he invests a little in January, taking a chance on reaching the promised land. Giving us a cheeky 8th place.

Here's hoping.

Wouldn't be surprised if the stand has something to do with it, didn't Bord use that as a ready to bring the valuation at rust bucket down before he pulled out?
I didn't take the blue collar comment that way just saying industrial like Cleveland

I agree with what you say. It’s also been a tenure littered with amateur mistakes - replacing Wilder without replacing Wilder’s stranglehold on the club. Then bringing Wilder back. All in my opinion a complete waste of energy and time and has set us back years. Just fucking shit all round and all predicted in various threads post Sunderland/wilder sacking. It makes me wonder how an independent board of fans don’t have more say in the actual running of the club apart from being asked about atmosphere and fan parks.

Draw a "big" team in the 3rd round of the FA Cup that would fill the entire BL end at £30 a ticket and they may just find the £50K needed to repair the roof down the back of the sofa! Matchday income plus potential TV revenue could easily hit £500K.

Bettis quotes millions to sort it properly,as we don't know the scope of works all we can do is speculate

Would be better to get through a few rounds first and have this in the 6th round or semi!!

It does make you wonder if PA did in fact withhold some information during the sale but I think this is just coincidence regarding the stand issues. This has been discovered 2 years after the sale and it's been said by Bettis this issue is down to the way it was originally built. It's more of a Kevin McCabe legacy than a PA one.

I think the withholding of the money is regarding other issues they unearthed post sale.

This thread began as "Chairman on the pitch" but has quickly become more 'pitch at the Chairman'
I was pleased to see him there, on our side of the Atlantic, taking an active interest in things without any fanfare or red carpet treatment.
He's got a lot to sort out, and a lot of credit to recover, but his presence at Bramall Lane on matchday was good to see.

Why do "they" always think they can come on the pitch?
If you want to get some steps in, do it on a fucking Friday afternoon, or a Sunday morning. But not immediately before or during a game.

Fuck ALL Owners
They do own the pitch so can go on it like you can go on anything that you own.

Some of the kids taking the penalties were taller than him. He's like the eighth dwarf.

Just wait until we get the "dog pound".

Agreed - not a fan of him so far and most decisions have been shite but got involved with the young fans and didn't need an announcement or fucking ridiculous sunglasses like his country man across the city

I think the club really needs a cup run this season. If it gets to 3rd round time and we're not in any obvious danger at that stage, it's going to be essential to keep people interested. Even getting playoffs and a sniff of the Prem isn't gonna excite people anymore because of our playoff history, and even if we did do the unthinkable, the club lacks the investment and infrastructure to do anything in the Premier League. We all know it's another 15-25 point horror show and back down. It feels like there's nothing really new and unknown and any realistic chance of changing things by taking that next step - making it to the premier league and establishing ourselves as a club at that level - can only come with fundamental change in the way the club is financed and operated.

I'm OK with moving forward as a money in, money out club. Trying to live within our income. And not requiring big loans from owners to try to boost the squad. Big loans that I fear will eventually drag us into financial difficulties. If we can't/don't fundamentally change the way the club is financed, I'm OK with that.

I'm aware that probably limits our ceiling. And I'm OK with that. We have a history of challenging within our lane. And, I'm happy for the enjoyment of success relative to our situation.

Indeed, if we're to develop Dore as a new First Team base. If we're to develop Shirecliffe as a better Academy. If we're to maintain Bramall Lane (Lane End Roof). Then money will need to be siphoned away from the First Team Squad. I'm OK with that.

We have to do Football Club things around physical infrastructure. And we might have to pay for those with points and league position. I'm OK with that.

Fuck ALL Owners

A shockingly sensible post. These threads go to show that regardless of someone’s actions if their face doesn’t fit at the Lane a section of the fans will pile on regardless.

This must be this ‘culture’ I hear so much about.

I didn't realise he was there. I was talking to someone and only took interest in pitch activities when the little girl scored a penalty through the keeper's legs. Had I known I would have taken more notice.

Did fans boo him? Unfortunately I wasn't there, in spite of having given him hundreds of pounds for season tickets.
