I used to laugh watching the shooting practice in the pre-match warm-up under Blackwell. 90% of shots went wide or over and that usually followed suit in matches.

Great engine, good passing, doesn't shy away from the physical side of the game, never hides.

He's a bit inconsistent and erratic at times, but he has the potential and all the tools to become a really good all around midfielder.

Problem he's had this season is that in this 4-4-2 formation he always finds himself outnumbered in midfield. And him being the only somewhat athletic midfielder in the squad only magnifies that.

He doesn’t do any of those things without a babysitter alongside him.
I don’t dislike him but he is overrated

Lack of composure, maybe due to his age, he snatches at chances. This might well improve as he gets older. I’m sure he’ll consistently hit the target in training where there’s no real pressure, but that doesn’t replicate match conditions.

I’d love to think so but his technique is shockingly bad. That isn’t going to improve with age. He or his coach should be setting out a regime of practice to address this. Sorry but the fact that he’s been markedly awful for several seasons suggests a lack of commitment for me.
