How are you still a wilder fan? I would really appreciate to hear your reasonings not even being sarcastic.

I’ll always be a fan of what he’s done for the club. I don’t trust the owners at all so I was happy to have Wilder in charge as nobody can accuse him of not wanting the best for our club. Unfortunately the shambolic recruitment and his limitations are looking likely to leave us fighting relegation and I don’t think this set of players have enough about them to stay up.
I won’t slag Wilder off … but it’s hard to defend his decisions at the moment.

What I don't understand is why Wilder decided to change to 442 and sign Donovan for the right wing, but spend all summer chasing Souttar and waiting for Phillips instead of recruiting a left winger too. Donovan is the victim of this.

If it meant selling Peck to fund three permanent signings then I could live with that.

I think we're s hit and destined for a bottom end fight. Without Bamford signing last season we were down. Since then we've lost three of our four best players and replaced them with six late window, unfit signings - i.e. what we could afford. The only bright spots from last season to this is Cooper's recovery from his injury. The six I expect to improve as they get fitter. Personally, I can already see improvements in some of them. If Cannon slots home (game over), or Bogat goes, or the goal doesn't count we get something today. They'll be a lot of those game though as we lack quality.

Do you think we might be shit because Wilder has wasted a ton of money on wages on Rothwell, Doherty, Jairo, BBD, Phillips, Choudhury et al, all past it, slow, injury prone players way off top championship level? We could've raided the bargain bin for a different eight players I'd concede that. I think you'll struggle to get six of the better ones when they've come in at the back end of the window when the quality has already been picked out. The fitness issues are an inevitability when that's when you're forced to do your business.The pattern will keep repeating until the structural problems at the club are rectified. I came into the season expecting a relegation fight Wilder or no Wilder. That was before we were picked over. The patterns are obvious to me.

And he's not always going to perform to a high level due to his age and experience anyway so to pretend starting him is a instant fix isn't likely to come true.

I'm presuming the Andrews/Lester link helped in us getting him but I'd guess both parties may think it's best if we decide this system is the way to go (assuming Wilder remains).

I have an inkling of what you're alluding to regarding structural issues but I fail to see how, having a squad of mostly championship level players, turning out performances of the level we are currently doing can be a direct consequence of those issues. If , because of those issues we had to recruit a squad of non league players then I could understand.

I think it was after the Bolton game at the next press conference one of the Radio Sheffield team asked Wilder if he was pleased with the way Donavon played, being dangerous in attack but also working hard backtracking to help the defence.
Wilder looked like he was chewing a lemon and said words to the effect that Donavon should have closed down the guy who scored their second goal.
That's the way he brings young players on, by not letting them get too big for their boots.
He obviously prefers to have someone like Rothwell who wanders around the pitch evading contact with the ball.

Wilder don't like this sort of player he is all about stopping the other teams playing. Pre-season when he said Shackleton will have a big part to play I immediately thought Seriki would be bombed out like Brooks, see they are players with strength, athleticism technical skill and pace. We have seen it time and time again with Brooks has a good game dropped for the next game, It's happening to Baptiste and Oné show a little bit and get dropped for a plodder, four right backs on the books yet he still has to play Seriki because the others are wank. It seems like anyone with a bit of ability never gets a run of games here, same old excuse young players are prone to mistakes, Wilder would rather play players out of position as long as they are part of the cult, what's the word culture carriers.
