Please do not defend Wilder

This was all horse shit. Neither him nor his starting line up gave two fucks about the fans who made the trip. They didn't have the pride nor the professionalism to put any kind of a fight up and they WENT OUT THE BACK DOOR, despite him constantly saying he won't accept that. Should know better really as that's just what he himself did previously so he's hardly one to criticise his hand picked little cherubs for doing the same.

Yeah fair enough. Wasn’t the game for Donovan.

I think it obviously speaks volumes that we don’t have any depth to the squad for a cup game.

I can’t read anymore into it than that
I would rather play our younger age group lads in midfield to a least run about a bit and close down instead of just being walked through. Donovan could have moved to playing central for the ball over the top.

The young lads would be cut to pieces more than this dads army

How come CW thought a game vs L2 opposition was a game for him but a game against relegated PL opponents wasn't?
I'm a Wilder fan, big on sentimentality and will every ball forward in to the other teams goal but I'm sadly losing faith in him. I have no idea what the answer is but the transfer window was badly handled by both the board and the manager. A dearth of old, average or knowingly unfit midfielders brought in and one striker was just out and out madness. Over 100 years without winning one of the big trophies, I fear we'll never win one in my lifetime now. What a depressing thought.

Did Wilder have Cod and Chips waiting at local chippy with how quick he was down the tunnel ?
Becoming a tough watch. Do we not realize that Knill was the Coach in the set up.

What a poo show.

Don't blame me - my job was leaning on the crash barrier which I managed for the full ninety, thank you.

He said for Wolves he took him out because he'd played a lot, which makes playing last night a strange one.

Yeah was surprised Baptiste didn't start and we didn't have any other youngsters on the bench.

The side we put out should've been good enough, it wasn't

The weaker side view, who’s realistically not in the first team tonight outside RND and McGuiness? I’m struggling to see how we didn’t play almost our first eleven.

Woeful, inept. Laughably bad at times.
It was laughably bad but if you rest Bamford and Peck that’s a hugely weakened team for us, the others can barely run or even move in some instances, it basically proved it as soon as they both came on.

‘please do not defend wilder’ never have done never will! Inept is an understatement!
Arrogance is his biggest downfall. Just look at the players he dropped over the years despite them having decent games then suddenly benched, Ndiaye, brooks D, brooks A, Siriki, Bogle and now Donovan! The man simply couldn’t see the talent in them or was it the arrogance of the man to stop them playing in ‘his’ team!
The weakened but ‘strong enough’ team selections in cup games where we always end up bringing on our best to try and save the game but fail! Why not play your strongest team (if you really want to go through) and then sub them off when your winning rather than the other way round.
The messiah my arse!
Sorry, should never ever have been allowed to come back! Laughing stock.

I hope he reads this

I’m glad you have faith in that. I can’t see it though. They’ve shown already they have no idea how to go about it when appointing Selles without interviewing him (or anyone else). We’ve now also not got a pot to piss in so paying Wilder off won’t be ideal for them. Never mind trying to identify someone to replace him - a process I wouldn’t have any trust in them with.
Why don’t we have a raffle or something or that octopus that picks World Cup winners on the job of selecting new gaffer . This club is beyond surgical repair. It needs a whole body transplant .
1 Sell club to someone who gives a shit
2 Fuck Bettis / Wilder off
3 appointment younger progressive manager .
4 appointment director of football to mentor young upcoming manager .

You can have that advice for free folks

Oh and get shut of Sinclair as well

For one minute, just imagine the excitement and sense of hope we would have if the ownership had the balls to sack Wilder and appoint someone new.

I’d bet my bottom dollar that some of these players that we have written off would look like new players.

New formations, new tactics & culture…. A new voice for the players and us fans to listen to.

We can only hope that the ownership are not happy for the club’s decline under Wilder to continue. First time in 40 odd years I’ve not had a season ticket. 😔

Yup

The ever so nearly at fleeting moments club

Then we design our self into fk up

Reluctant to pile on to CW or the players. Don't want to poison the season for myself. League Cup, historically, has always been a write off under CW. So in this regard, there's nothing to write home about.

Bigger issue is, for some reason, CW and the Backroom are wedded to 4-4-2 Hoof, to a fault, and appear imovable to the idea of a change of system, driven by round pegs in round holes.

Build a system around our better players. Not the other way round - ask our better players to fit into a system that undermines the majority of the players we do have.

His manner of taking responsibility is infuriating.

"it's my time so I have to take responsibility" great... but what he means, which is clear from the rest of the post match, is actually "it's my team, and the players I put out there didn't play well enough, so I have to take some blame for that underperformance."

It's basically a non-apology. There's no hint of "it's my team, I selected the wrong players for the wrong roles, my setup and tactics were ineffective so this is on me as much as poor performing players." But we never get this, it's always on the team. That's somewhat fair because some of these players are just not performing to the best of their ability, but nor are you Chris.

What happened ffs? There is no reason why he cannot find some of the innovation and endeavour from 16 to 19. He's just decided that playing it safe and stolid is the best approach. I'd wager both will result in mid-table championship football, but one of them will be much more entertaining.

If we play like we did tonight against Stoke, we will lose and there will be every chance that our chest thumping manager will be shown the door.
We then have the international break to instill new ideas, I firmly believe that our owners will have a new manager lined up, we already have Collins and Jones in situ it’s is just the bloke who gives the interviews about culture that needs to be removed as things cannot be any worse.
i think hes got 3 games
