Chris has his critics which seems to have grown in the last 12 months, everyone will have their reasons for this.
My opinion is that he's still the right person for this club at this moment in time.

He's been dealt a sh** hand and also we've dived in to being compliant by selling assets to meet sustainability regulations in one window. This may actually be a godsend considering the scrutiny the club will now come under from the EFL due to the owners actions.

We have rode our luck at times in the games we have taken something from. Unfortunately this is something we need to get used to because if we are to achieve anything (by this i mean a top 14 finish) this season then we will need to have an element of luck in every game we take a draw or a defeat.

Were not the finished article, were not flashy but there is enough quality scattered around for us to have a less worrying season than lots predict providing the effort is there, collectively they back one another and we somehow over the next 4-8 weeks considerably improve our structure as a unit.

And Wilder has often been able to create a team greater than the sum of its parts.

Blackburn conceded 22 shots against Wolves and beat them. West Ham conceded 18 against Wolves and beat them.

So we were in the Cricket Pavilion, which was what the South Stand was called then, and we used to say some of our fans were happy when we lost. They couldn’t wear an onion on their belts because onions make you cry and they were happy, because we had lost. Anyway……..

If you think we deserved to win that youre deluded. That first half was atrocious again. Second half mildly better but still bad and made Blackburn look good. It’s all on Wilder that.

But credit where it’s due, we won the game away on a rainy Tuesday night in Blackburn. Well done Blades.

However, playing like that against the better sides and not pre-season relegation candidates, is a different story.

If that continues and we’re in playoffs or higher end of season (where we should be with this squad) the fair play…Wilder firmly in. We conceded 19 shots again. The tactics are absolutely woeful and allowing opposition on to us. Wolves will score 4+ on sunday if we allow them that many shots.

We've played 6 games and conceded 103 shots in total an average of 17 per game - SEVENTEEN!!!!

It's a good job Cooper has found his form again

Some low wages have headed out on loan. Some high wages have come in. We’ve undoubtedly cut the wage bill, but we had no option because of SCR. It is completely false to say that Wilder has been provided with 0 pounds when he very clearly has been provided with money. Your post was nonsense.

I’m delighted we’ve 9 points from the opening 6, but that ‘particular statistic’ suggests that not only are we quite lucky to have as many points as we do (the eye test confirms this) but also that it’s unlikely to be sustainable for much longer.

When Seriki is back we will be more solid and more of an attacking threat. He's quick, can get forward and quick enought to get back. Based on this year's squad I would ideally want a starting line up for every game as follows:

Cooper

Seriki Tanganga Kitching McCallum

Donavan Peck Phillips BBD

Campbell Bamford

Not a bad starting 11 that. A lot of those players would get into most other sides. We need to have a bit more belief.

But these ‘tactics’ are not sustainable. 2 seasons ago we did the same with Wilder (with Hamer og COH etc), it was boring and defensive but we were basically lucky until that luck ran out, unfortunately that was towards the end of the season and then the play off final.
Having 19 passes in 20 second half minutes is ridiculous. What happens if Cooper gets injured, or the opposition strikers hit the barn door. Teams create way too easily against us. We survive one attack then give them the ball to try again.
Unless we get the midfield combination working and settled, we are in for a long hard season

As a fan , his sense of failure since 2020 must be enormous and I can obviously sympathise with that.
But surely his time at the Lane is now done ?
Everything moves in cycles and he and the club need to recognise that , before the memory of his joyous period 16-20 is altogether spoiled.

Long term we are fucked

Yeh , it's not progress , either in the squad or in the financial model.
Which , let's not forget , was supposed to be player development.
Not hiring expensive old farts who either move slowly or can't last 90 minutes or both.
This club will not progress in any way with Wilder , just clinging on.
Drop the pretence , the PL is unrealistic - make some changes - which may cause pain in the short-term - but which may offer a sense of progress.

I'm certainly not disappointed we won last night, but like the commentators on Sky and many of us have said, it was a shock we came out with three points, when really I don't think anybody could've had any complaints if Blackburn had won that comfortably.

Birmingham - Not much in the game at all. We offered literally nothing, they were slightly better.
Swansea - Another 0-0 where we didn't offer much, likewise with them, but at least we were able to restrict them to very few chances.
Cardiff - If not for Cooper, we'd have lost. Very fortunate to come away with a point, they had nearly 70% possession and 28 shots.
Bolton - An incredibly very fortuitous win. Cooper made many good saves in the second half, and felt like we were holding on at times.
Norwich - Got what was coming to us. A good side at this level who have been very good in 2026 and beat us comfortably.
Blackburn - A very lucky win versus a depleted side without a striker. Despite this, They had 19 shots, dominated the ball etc.

In the six matches we've played so far, only Norwich, Birmingham and possibly Swansea will be in the top half come the end of the season. I think we have been able to get fortunate results against the Cardiff's, Blackburn's and Bolton's, mainly due to their lack of quality especially in the final third and because we possess one of the best, if not the best goalkeeper in the division. I know it's early days and we've lost huge creativity in Brooks, Hamer and O'Hare, but from what I've watched so far, we're ponderous, dull, lacking in creativity, we're not a team that are possession based, frankly the opposite. It would be fine if we had real pace on the break, but we don't have that.

Tony Mowbray said after the game that Blackburn haven't been able to train for weeks. Weeks! They're a poor side, no doubt about it, but I'd say we have more resources available than them right now, but they seemed to have a structure, a way of playing, an identity, something we totally lack right now. It took us over half an hour to register a shot...

Over the six league games, I'm amazed we've picked up nine points. Maybe in the next ten or so matches, things will balance themselves out. I know it's about points, not performances, but I really hope to see improved performances in the coming weeks as I'm certain if we continue to play the way we are doing, we'll lose more than we win and we'll be in a relegation dogfight especially with a potential points deduction looming.

Maybe we’ll be this season’s Hull City? Weren’t they bottom four for xG?
