Wilder wins games

Hard to disagree at the moment.

Of the opening 6 games, I’d say Birmingham & Swansea were fair points but the draw against Cardiff and the wins against Bolton and Blackburn were somewhat fortuitous, to put it mildly. The defeat against Norwich was a pretty fair result as well.

So to be on 9 points is remarkable.

Thought experiment.

Say we’d started the season without a win. Lost a couple, drawn the rest. But we’d actually played really well in several of the games: created chances, been denied by exceptional performances from opposition goalkeepers, let down by bad finishing, poor refereeing.

Would the people now saying performances don’t matter, only results, be saying the same thing? I doubt it. They’d be saying don’t panic, if we keep playing like this we’ll get a win eventually and be fine.

Its not luck that Cooper is a class keeper
When the back 4 can't win you games, you look to rely on your keeper. We can do that this season.

As a CB myself, only allowing a couple of shots on target per game as an aim. 0 the target. 5 shots on target all 90 minutes stats wise is a poor effort from them and a mighty good defensive stat by ourselves. Their xg on target was 1. So we did what we needed to do as the away team.

If you think we deserved to win that youre deluded. That first half was atrocious again. Second half mildly better but still bad and made Blackburn look good. It’s all on Wilder that.

But credit where it’s due, we won the game away on a rainy Tuesday night in Blackburn. Well done Blades.

However, playing like that against the better sides and not pre-season relegation candidates, is a different story.

I can see the pro and anti wilder camps being divided and thread like these cropping up after every loss and win and draw.

Mods, like the megathread, can we create a Wilder IN - megathread?

Seven of the players involved on the pitch last night have arrived in the last couple of weeks.

Three of our best creative and/or attacking players have been sold.

Three players who would definitely be in or around the 1st team are injured.

We're not exactly ripping up the league yet but under the circumstances I think it's fair to say we're making progress.

Its gonna take a bit of time to get us more competitive and start to show more steel in the performances.

Shows how far we’ve fallen when being 9th (until later tonight) after a smash and grab style win, is seen as an achievement.
After we destroyed what he had rebuilt we were relegation fodder. So yes even being in a play off hunt would be an achievement after the summer we have had again

Lost the plot.. tactically inept sold the family silver

We conceded 19 shots again. The tactics are absolutely woeful and allowing opposition on to us. Wolves will score 4+ on sunday if we allow them that many shots.

We've played 6 games and conceded 103 shots in total an average of 17 per game - SEVENTEEN!!!!

It's a good job Cooper has found his form again

We still have a squad that budget wise costs more to keep than 16 of the teams in this league - so, wheres the miracle ?
weellthats a hangover of being in the prem more than other clubs
doubt if say millwall fans would love to bore themselves silly winning enough games to go up
our fans seem to demand playing like Ajax at their prime every game

championship is ridiculously competitive,, any win should bring a few smiles,, but that doesnt happen,, unless we win at a canter its god we were shit
west ham top burnley bottom shows how hard it is to predict

they had 5 shots on taget we had 4, a positive person would say our conversion rate is improving
cooper made 3 saves on bbc stats and 19 overall shots they add shots my gran could save
boro had 16 shots to palaces 8 last night and lost 3-0
when we won 3-0 at hillsboro we had 11 shots but they said owls had 5 cant remember our keeper get out of his deck chair

As I said. If we allow Wolves (or decent teams) that many shots, they won't be off target. All bar 1 team we've played so far are in the bottom 10.

Conceding so many shots to Cardiff, Bolton and Blackburn does not bode well for when we actually play someone decent does it 🤣

You keep saying this like it's clever. Does the thought of Wilder getting any credit for anything really pain you so much?
But these ‘tactics’ are not sustainable. 2 seasons ago we did the same with Wilder (with Hamer og COH etc), it was boring and defensive but we were basically lucky until that luck ran out, unfortunately that was towards the end of the season and then the play off final.
Having 19 passes in 20 second half minutes is ridiculous. What happens if Cooper gets injured, or the opposition strikers hit the barn door. Teams create way too easily against us. We survive one attack then give them the ball to try again.
Unless we get the midfield combination working and settled, we are in for a long hard season

Shit squad hes assembled they say

But...he still wins games despite not getting a bean to buy in

Up to 9th same points as millwall in 8th play off spot.....

Nasty habit ..winning upsets a lot of posters
He’s spending a fortune on salaries on players who will not add value in the long term because they are old or on loans. Probably doing just enough to keep his job.
Long term we are fucked

If players win games then players lose games. Can't have it both ways.

Yes, but if players are having to play with crap tactics then when they win its because of them. We won yesterday because of Cooper saving us and them not taking their chances, not because of a Wilder tactical masterclass. Same against Bolton
