Never clearer than tonight.
Started with 3 5 2, half time changed to 4 4 2 then went to 4 3 3.
CWs flexible I suppose.

I did not see a 3-5-2 at all at the start, it’s amazing how people see the game differently. And I don’t mean that in a bad way.

At the start I had 4-4-2 defending, and a quite narrow 4-3-3 when attacking.

Which meant they went wide on the break, then when they had sustained pressure y focused going through the middle.

Definitely 5 when we were defending, then took off RND and went to a 4. That's what it looked like to me. Hopefully Bergen blade can clarify.

Won’t be as lucky in the next 40 or so matches. Wilder needs to sort it. His tactics are way off. Need to go to 4-3-3 and aim for more control in matches instead of shitting ourselves every time we have the ball.
agreed wilder got away with one tonight he HAS to start playing 3 midfielders once again we were overun in midfield by only having 2 in midfield either 433 or 343

Looked more comfortable for a short spell with Philips, Peck, Arblaster today. Would like to see them as the three in 433

Wilder said the Phillips plan was to give him his first start in the cup. That's a game away now. Maybe we risk it? Unt then I think the middle is a bit of struggle

Need to start understanding that right now this is our level. We don’t have the players to do anything else. Imagine a different manager with this lot

To me its the lack of fitness thats causing alot of the issues, we dont press as a team or play out together, plus so many cant strike a ball cleanly.Too many scuffed passes.A lot of work is needed if we are not going to be in a relagation postition. imho

Was going to say it clearly shows we miss alan knill but we played just as bad last season aswell.

4-3-3 for me. We need the three in midfield to stop us being overrun and it should offer some sort of attacking threat and an out-ball. However, for this to work, it’s absolutely essential that the wide forwards don’t drop to deep and leave the centre forward isolated.
I would entertain the idea of a back 5 but only if Seriki and Burrows are the wingbacks, as they would offer some actual attacking threat from out wide.

Who was playing left back in the first half? Sometimes RND was playing in front of McCallum and vice versa!

Not being funny but everyone said we played shite all of the 92pts season. We've 'played shite' every game this season apparently.

You don't play shite and win that many points. Last season was shite. We've taken 9pts from from our first 5 games and I think most of us would've taken that before the season started.

I hate to admit it but you’re right another manager with this shower and we’d be relegated
Wilder did sign most of them

The team we had today should not be dominated by that Blackburn side

We won but the tactics and way we set up was ridiculous. We got away with it but we play like that Sunday and we will be comfortably beat.

Do you think we’ve played well? Genuine question. What do you think we’ve done well?

A win's a win and especially an away win is always a good result.

I think anyone who watches us regularly though will see through the league position and one league defeat.

The more points we pick up the better and the more we ride our luck the better. But common sense dictates that the level of performance week after week has to pick up otherwise results will dive.

Only played that for about 20 mins but when we did it coincided with our best spell of moving the ball around.

Players looked far more comfortable in that spell with 433 and did some nice moves/passing.

I think Wilder is still working out what our identity actually is, which I don't really blame him for given our best 3 players were sold and he wasn't given a penny to replace them.

I imagine a kind of 4-3-3 is probably the way forward, with Donovan and BBD on the wings and a midfield of Peck, Arblaster and Phillips. I think it's about time we give the latter two a run of games to see if they're up to it, as I don't think these regular 20-minute sub appearances are really helping anyone anymore.

Put the ball int' net more times than the opposition, usually a good place to start 😆🤣
If we go through the season and keep winning while the opposition have twice as much possession, twice as many shots, twice as many touches in our box, I'll eat my words. Until then, I'll keep saying we need to play better to be successful.

Wilder wasn’t overly upbeat afterwards. He seems aware there is more work to do.
Yes. His post match celebration was very low key. I didn't realise he was still on the pitch until he broke away from a post match conflab with a couple of backroom staff.

Honestly I do think Wilder sees what we see but sadly he’s had a year nearly to know what formation and tactics he wants to play. So despite the off the pitch noise he hasn’t fully landed on anything. That’s with Alan Knill and without.
