Agreed .. I would love to know exactly who we tried to get in … and when. I’d also like to know how many players or agents rejected us out of hand due to the worries about potential EFL sanctions. We’ll probably never know unfortunately.

The owners have created a tough situation for any manager but Wilder and the recruitment team have made poor use of the funds available.

What's weird is our younger players seemingly have no pace. I don't expect a Rothwell or a Bamford to move like a rocket but others in the squad move like they are carrying rocks.

It pisses me off when managers like Wilder just seem reactive, as if they are not aware of what's going on. Loading the squad with so many defensive players that are not here to play for free, when as you say even a smidge of those wages could have gone on someone else on loan.

He will redeem himself a touch if I see Sidibe in the match day squad, now is the time to take a risk and show a talent that's in high demand from abroad. Although I know he would sooner play Shackleton.

It will be interesting to see if someone like Sidibe gets a chance. To be fair he’s putting a lot of faith in Donovan who is very young and I’m pretty sure One will get his chance when fit. You’re right that we have seemed very reactive but I have a feeling we’ve been hamstrung by a combination of reduced money and uncertainty around potential EFL sanctions. We won’t have been an easy sell.

If the budget situation has changed across the summer then that undermines any planning. I’m not saying our recruitment team are great, but there’s weird stuff going off above them.

The reduced money was widely known about due to the parachute payments ending plus the new SCR rules. This cutting of wages and players was going to happen regardless of the PA court shenanigans.

I am sure Bettis or Wilder claimed we were prepared for these matters last year but quite clearly we were not.

You’re right but it seemed like the owners moved the goalposts during the window.. there was a sudden shift to being adamant that it was all about frees and loans. Prior to that Wilder had said on a number of occasions that he was getting full backing for the re-build. Something definitely changed.

Wilder said frees and loans at the start of window. Then randomly confirmed we were interested in Souttar. Then went back to saying frees and loans.

Even if you don’t want him long term… surely most will be happy he’s in charge while we continue to have nothing but ignorant silence from the owners and continued worries about where their ineptitude may lead.

I get it, hes had the guts ripped right out of his squad just to pay off some lousy debt. And all hes got to compromise is a well established CB on deadline day. The bloke deserves a medal not to of jacked, cus i know many under the circumstances would of. Lets back him. UTB
 
He’s the right man for the job this season.

Is he currently getting the best out of this group of players? No, not for me. The squad is a mess but the players we have are better than the rubbish we served up second half today.

But I do back him to sort it out and get us playing better football as the season progresses.

I maybe recall it differently but I’m pretty sure things changed… and there will definitely have been an impact from the negative news surrounding the owners. Not many players want to work for people who don’t pay their debts … and whether they are guilty or not, they have created that uncertainty.

The funds for the Souttar bid suddenly vanished and left us with a bottom four budget, even after selling Hamer and Brooks, as well as selling O'Hare with no time to replace him.

We've got no idea how difficult it has been to operate in this window, having to manage an unbalanced squad with our owners in court.

Perhaps Wilder's attacking options have gone elsewhere as a result? Perhaps his options were scouted for a certain budget, only to be told with a week or two to go that the budget has changed? Perhaps he was told he couldn't replace O'Hare whoever he found for however cheap?

Agree that he and his off-field team haven’t been well enough prepared for today and this is more evidence why you need a better team around him and support. You wouldn’t want a Wilder in that state making massive, defining financial decisions for the club, in the 60 minutes or so after a match. We need someone decent to take that load off him

But hope he gets a good rest now and we go into January better set up (ideally with better people around him). Praising the players he does have is the right approach

He probably is exhausted, he was blindo in lord Nelson Sunday. Not saying he shouldn’t be boozing but 2 days before the transfer window closes, a window that we really needed to get something done, so can write Monday off (cos no one operates properly with a hangover) left just yesterday to work on things. Maybe he needed the blow out cos he’s as down as most of us.

He’s set the right tone for the players. We work with what we have, we are all pulling in the same direction. We all support each other.

Something goes against the group they can’t control? That’s football. Let’s not dwell.

It’s exactly the right approach.

You don't know that at all, you don't know what was "available" what was promised Vs what actually was delivered.
 
Do you expect him to stay ive been kicked in the bollox im stuck with this lot which is what he meant
But as usual he triedd turning it into a positive,commitment etc
Squads not big enough we all know that
2 gamws a week ,phillips blaster injury prone , bamf cant do a full season qnd no width
Cooper saved us today ,a good keeper shocked no one came for him

I'm not convinced anything changed, this was all planned from the start.
You only have too look on the rumours section, we were hardly linked with any players most posts were just peoples suggestions.
Souttar was the strange one, but my opinion is there was a bid but they knew all along it wouldn't get accepted.
God knows what we would have done if Leicester were really desperate and accepted it, we would probably have shat ourselves.

Yet got a point away to Swansea who have beat everyone?

We will get better, the fact we’re scoring despite having very little going forward is positive.

This team will give its all, and sometimes it won’t be enough but selling all your best players & not replacing them but still picking up results is a credit to the side.

They’ve done tactical work for two days on COH playing and then at the last minute they have to change. Thsts not easy in itself
