Callum O Hare To Wrexham

And it wasnt a 'free' transfer. I think it was well known at the time that O'Hare reveived a rather generous signing on fee from United which ran into the millions. The transfer fee as such went to the player rather than Coventry as he had ran down his contract. So if we gave him away cheaply, weve also wrote off the 'fee' that we gave to him as an enticement to sign on with us in the first place.

Anyway, i wouldnt be at all surprised if Deadly Danny from the Stir, was acting on the request of the club to run a story about this when the club have no intention of selling. Adding a story about one of our better players leaving (he wont be) takes fans thoughts away from Utds failure so far to get the necessary number of signings in through the door. When we only sign one more and the 'we will be exploring the free agents market' shout goes up, it will be caveated with the 'and the club had to stay strong to resist last minute approaches for our own players....'. The fans are suddenly then thinking, 'well we didnt bring in what we needed, but at least we didnt lose our better players'....

In business, its like giving out bad information in the old shit sandwich. You start off telling the staff things that are fairly positive, then drop in the shit message that pisses people off, then add in some positive news again. So, 1) Were looking to bring in a few players, 2) The current best players may be sold, 3) We didnt get the new players we wanted... but at least our better players are still here, so everyone can be happy again.

You’re still thinking about the bad news aren’t you?

At the beginning of the summer we knew we’d need to ditch some high earners, and COH is one of the candidates. So I trust we have a list of realistic replacements.

However, the later we leave the sale the harder it becomes to recruit. So unless the deal is made contingent on his replacements, it’d be extremely foolish to sell now.

It also highlights the questionable decision to let Brooks go so early. Did we believe it had to be done early, and no equivalent or better offers would be tabled? It’s not like selling Brooks unlocked any other deals.

Brooks was sold when he was as we needed profit prior to year end

Doherty
BBD
Phillips
Bamford
Jairo
Choudhary

Either going back or have no resale value.
Doherty was a free agent, so wages won't have been that high considering the offers he'll have had, same with Bamford and Riedewald.

City paying the majority of Phillips wage, and Choudry won't be on massive wages either

But other than that, you don't have an argument?

A truly awful character. Even forgetting he played for Wednesday, unbelievable arrogance for a lower Championship quality player. Also bullies youth team players.

I really really hope Wilder stays as far away from him as possible.
Now who does that remind me of ....?
Gary fucking Madine ( a player i hated seeing in a blades shirt )
But for some reason most people were happy to see him arrive.
And hes the type wilder would definitely be interested in ....Its his football club & he Doesn't care what anyone else thinks 🙄

Hamza will be on huge wages at Leicester. But I trust we’d be offering him a standard Championship salary. 😬

Other than the argument I don’t need to argue for. We are paying high wages for what they are worth with no resale value or go back to their club: not sustainable

You've listed 6 players out of a squad of 23.

Straight off the bat, we can (and probably will) make a profit off Cooper, Seriki, Campbell, Blaster, Peck, One and others.

Not every player in the squad is brought in with a view to selling them

They're cutting him to reduce the wage bill, not a chance we're paying him anywhere close

We are essentially taking over his contract so we don’t pay a fee aren’t we?

So he’s on £50k a week.

He wouldn’t just agree to give up his final year of £50k a week and join us on £15k would he? No chance.

So in all likelihood we will be paying him £50k a week this season in lieu of a transfer fee with then 2/3 season after that at a lower salary but even so, it’s going to be a decent wedge for him to agree to it now and not bank the 50k a week all season. Leave for free and then see what offers are out there next season when he could expect a chunky signing on fee.

I'd seen somewhere that we'd agreed a 2 or 3 year deal or something like that, so we'll have negotiated a new wage. Assume Leicester will have paid off a chunk of his remaining contract to get him out the door

Hamza is/was one of their highest paid players.

Yes it’s a 2/3 year deal.

He’s getting that 50k a week for this season from somewhere and as we are not paying a transfer fee for him, it suggests it’s from us with a salary reduction after that.

We have not brought anyone in with a resale. Wilder used to have a short term, medium long term strategy. Nothing hé has done since he came back will last this season.

We have sold hamer brooks to start with and not replaced them with anything remotely medium or long term but got players on wages which will be high for this division

When the others are sold and we just have this short term strategy we will be more fucked than we are now.

We then add choudhary when we have phillips Rothwell snd Jairo yhat hes brought in. Oh so now you will argue hé csn cover at right back but that’s what Doherty and Shackleton.

It’s fucking inept

Again, I'd assume to release him from his contact Leicester are paying him a percentage of it as opposed to us taking on that wage

So we won't make a profit on players we already have? Are you focusing purely on this window when it comes to profit? Why?

We replaced Brooks with Donovan (low wage as prem academy player) and Hamer with BBD (loan, won't be paying all his wage)

We've had a short term strategy in 1 window. Bold to say that's how it'll be forever?

Seriki is out for (at an estimate) at least a month or 2. Doherty can't play every game, and Shackleton isn't ready either. Choudry offers cover for RB and DM, both positions we use lots of. Am I happy with it? No, but I also understand the reasons behind it

It was to get it into last seasons accounting period most likely

But how is that fee booked in relation to SCR?
We didn't pay Coventry a transfer fee. A player/agent signing on fee is booked totally different, surely?

Its not about write off a fee. Its balancing the books.

Because he was talking about the players we've brought since last summer wasnt he.

Just so we're clear you think the club have done good business the last 2 summers? You think they've assembled a top 6 squad? You're happy with our recruitment and squad building under these owners?

I imagine if he’s on 50/w at Leicester with a year left, he’ll be on something like 30/w here for 3 years. Only guesswork. He knows his 50/w days are over.

Well if we're going off last summer - Tanganga, McGuinness are players we can make a profit off. Could with Nils as well but for some reason he doesn't even make the bench in games where we're playing 3 CBs

Also potential profit off Matos and Polendakov depending how their loans go.

So the recruitment is the owners fault? How does that work?

Who's fault do you think last summers recruitment was? Of course they are to blame.

So your answers to these are yes. You are out of your mind.

I must have missed the appointment of Rosen and Helmy as our scouts

Did i say that? No

What i did say, was that the blame needs to be placed at the appropriate level. 70% of last summers signings get blamed on Poker bloke. Jan's signings, and this seasons signings - come on down Mr Wilder!

Do I think we have a top 8 squad? Yes. Do I think CW is the man to manage or add to that? No

To bring the thread back to topic - how would we replace COH if he goes?

Just need to find wilders rolodex of previous loans
