We can 'trust in Nigel' all we want, but it's like trusting in a mechanic to fix your car when he is armed with a double ended dildo, six Bensons, a bucket of warm diahorrea and a fishing rod.
Mark my words, if this lot aren't in the top six by Xmas and are playing Weir football, he'll walk.

Jesus. There's some dummies been spat here tonight. I hope you're all big enough to pick them up and put them back in again when we lift the League One trophy.
Why on earth would we be playing weir football by Xmas, he's never had us playing like that yet. Good analogy with the mechanic but it really isn't all that bad, just disappointing
If they had say 3 bids rejected why not forget 1 player and increase the bids of the player(s) for the most needed position(s)?
Sheffield United's attempts to bring in last minute additions to the playing squad ahead of the transfer window closing have been rejected.
Nigel Clough, who publicly stated that United were chasing a number of targets, has confirmed that subsequent offers have been rebuffed.
The Blades manager said: "We've been working hard to improve the squad and, with the help of the board, have made substantial bids for players. Unfortunately, our targets are valued by their current clubs, hence the bids being rejected.
"The players we highlighted would have undoubtedly improved the squad, however, we didn't want to spend the Club's money on others, who would have not necessarily made us stronger. We already have a talented squad, which we hope is capable of challenging for promotion from this division.
"We pushed right until the deadline, making multiple bids, but the players we wanted are appreciated by their respective clubs."
Clough added: "We have brought in 11 players over the summer and the closing of the transfer window is not the end of our search for players. We'll be exploring the loan market from next week with the aim of adding depth to the impressive squad we already have."
This is the statement from Clough on the official site.

*I've only just seen your post Will Brammer, apologies.
I'm just going to make a wild guess, and suggest that Clough didn't actually say that.

What the fuck is wrong with this club?
We need a striker - maybe two and ship out Porter on loan to Oughtibridge Girl Guides
We possibly need a decent midfielder to bring on the current group and sit and hold
We definitely need a Maguire replacement who is strong in the challenge and reads the game well.
And are we a bit thin if Howard gets injured/suspended?
Cheers 'game changing investment' dickheads.
Another struggle ensues. I just hope Cluff stays with us.

I can't believe some people thought we'd actually sign a few before the deadline!!
NC has just learned what the supporters of SUFC have known for 30 years.
That is that the board of SUFC are great at not delivering on their support !!!
We signed quite a few players before the deadline. One of our busiest ever, I think? The window didn't open this morning you know.
