What is the plan for United?

I don't even want to labour the point with what we could do differently, it's been mentioned to death on here by numerous people.

How long are we just going to trudge along with this one paced, one dimensional thinking (on and off the pitch).

Honestly, I would rather go down trying something fresh and innovative than plod along on the slow demise we are currently set on.

You say "club" as if there is some structure to all this? As far as I can see there are absent owners who are leaving things to wilder and bettis for day to day running. And that's pretty much it? I like wilder but a club this size these days needs more structure.

When wilder walked in we were 10 years away from all other clubs and he brought us up to speed and over took a lot.... but then in the prem, Instead of slapping the launch button and going a further few years advanced and moving club along we imploded and did everything on cheap and ended up standing still whilst all other clubs caught up and over took us & now we are years away yet again.

Most of us think that if we don’t stick with Wilder when our owners have lost interest and / or run out of money (god knows why they thought it was a good idea to buy a football club in that situation) then we will end up in L1. We had one of the best defences but we needed more goals. JOC got injured and we rolled the dice on Brewster being the man to get the goals, and based on his reputation it seemed the right move but we should've spent less on a striker and also should've got ourselves a JOC replacement. Bogle and Lowe also seemed like good buys as they were young, highly rated with big potential. Bogle has since proved he's a decent PL player but the entire left side needed improving. Instead we carried on with Stevens and Robbo, while Wilder did his best to ignore Van Winkel's recommendations in Europe. If the rumours were true, we could have had Osimhem and Soucek for the price of Brewster and things would have been very different!

This is the same argument as the 24/25 season. Nobody has ever, even once asked for 'play like Barcelona'. Just positivity, intensity, trying to score goals, looking like there's a coherent plan to create chances.

Watched Forest at Anfield earlier in the afternoon and they more than matched Liverpool in their own back yard with skilful, fast paced football. We are absolutely light years behind the Scabs on and off the pitch, where we were close rivals only a few seasons back. The difference between our two clubs now is mind blowing.

Indeed, and Wilder has acknowledged that quite recently and admitted that he got it wrong. He thought that group had another season in it, and it turns out it didn’t. Unfortunately, that was a major sliding doors moment and we are still living with the consequences of it today. It wasn’t like getting a team selection or tactical change wrong. It was the point at which the club began to decline from the high point of 2019/20, with a couple of dead cat bounces along the way that have flattened to deceive. That’s when the real damage was done, and my hope is that we will be able to bottom out without another spell in L1.

It isn’t all on Wilder. Whilst he maybe part of problem these days, the issue is much bigger than that.

Wilder was exactly what we needed 10 years ago. He grabbed the club by the scruff of its neck and took us into the Premier League, whilst playing some great football on the way.

Admittedly, that’s some time ago now and things have changed but the club has been dysfunctional and without drive, genuine ambition or a clear strategy with and without Wilder.

All of it needs to change. The manager, the recruitment team, commercial and media teams, the board (or at least get some real investment), CEO, first team coaches… all of it needs a refresh.

The fan base deserves better but until the cult decide they've had enough of him too, nothing changes.
