Genius! I wonder why noone else has thought of that. Why don't you write to McCabe? Might miss this transfer window, but if you explain to him that all we need to do is buy a 'twenty goal a season striker' I'm sure he'll sort something out in January.

Edit: oh, hold on a minute. There are those times we 'invested' all that money and didn't get promotion. The time when we got promotion despite not having a twenty goal a season striker. Oh, and the fact that we've already signed a prolific and proven goalscorer this summer. Then again - he's played a couple of times for us now and hasn't got a hattrick so he clearly doesn't count any more. And the fact that every other team in the entire world is looking for exactly the same thing. Actually, the more I think about it...

So, what do you suggest, Cassius? We have just sold a good-prospect central defender for £2.5m and last season, some before-unknown Saudi Arabian geezer joins the board the day after the transfer window shuts (no-one has still yet explained that) promising a 'game changing investment'.

With his cash, and £2.5m to strengthen the squad, do you think the club we support seems as though it is moving forward with a non-scoring forward, a proven nesh-hound and an unfit bruiser as their goal outlets? If so, I'd like to see your working out.

And, this is a forum. We are allowed to comment and offer our take on things. All this 'why don't you just tell McCabe' bollocks is a bit self-defeating, don't you think? It doesn't make me reconsider what I say - it makes me think you will accept any old dogshit the club will feed you and maybe you're happy with another season in this fucking division.

We did sign a potential 20 goal a season striker on a 3 year deal 2 years ago and flogged him when that was looking like he'd get 20 and ultimately cost us a good shot at auto slots. Pompey's anologies above are spot on if we didn't have to sell Mguire (those pesky agents) we should In theory have that money to lay out on a striker this is without "Game changing investment" which apparently isn't now going to be seen until we get to the championship apparently.

You spend the last 2 weeks wondering where some of the posters are then all of a sudden they all appear on one thread!
Just wait untill we don't sign any one, fucking all hell will break loose:D

Like iv'e said before,i'll be happy with us not getting rid of any of our main players first, that will more than satisfy me as that will be seen as an improvement on our recent transfer windows.

People are so hung up on the game changing investment comment its pathetic. We have signed 11 players deemed by our esteemed manager to be good enough to get us out of the division. We were told we will not spend silly money until we get to the championship to push on to the prem. People banging on about us not spending millions on players, how many players worth millions will drop down and play in this division. As for the small chance of been accepted comment, is it possible that the deals hinge on clubs doing other business and not the fees offered? I imagine we have said "if you are to sell him, how much for?" And we have made our bids accordingly, I doubt we will have bid 20 quid and then said, oh they probably won't get accepted.

Happy? Really?. We've already sold our most valuable player for £2.5m and spent very little on new players. We haven't even spent the money we have brought in.....and don't even get me started on the game changing investment bollocks. Seems nothing has changed to me.

That's part of the problem, why the club came out with it i will never know, they have come out with some crap over the years and thats why people get pissed off.

And what has led you to believe we will get investment in the championship? Jus another lie!

And how do you get to the championship? By having the best team in league 1. How do you get the best team in legaue 1? By buying he best players.

Yes, we are banging on about game changing investment because one year and 2/3 transfer windows on and we are in a worse state than we were pre-prince! That is what's really pathetic. I also think it's pathetic that a side averaging nearly 20,000 fans is spending a 4th consecutive season in division 3, when the likes of Brentford, Yeovil, Rotherham and Bournemouth are going up.

Spending = results, it's proving time and time again. The game hasn't changed at all, we are shit and not even looking like we want to improve. Our net spend is negative every season and we are finishing lower every season. So ye, I am pretty hung up on this 'game changing investment' cos I can't wait until the game actually changes.

Like why say things like
"Europe in 5 years"
"Beattie has a cold"
"Shutters are coming down"

It was McCabe wasn't it? I'd wager JP was none too pleased about it being said.

Let me twist it round Deano .Will you be happy if we get rid of any more players today? I'm as pissed off as you are with the statement they made but we should have known better tbh. Were not far off,i'd be over the moon with another striker, depending on who it is and how much he will cost though, lets just wait and see.

We're worse off?! We were looking at no signings and Robert Page as manager pre-Takeover. Stop moaning like a little girl.

We have signed 11 players. Not exactly players who are making me feel we will bulldoze this division flat mind. And here's the sixty five quid question S5. Given we have just got rid of a better defender for two and a half million, exactly how much did these players cost, altogether? If you sat 'two and a half million', I'll counter with 'bollocks'. If you were to say 'sixty five quid', then I will believe you.

And another thing. Now we hear that the money won't be spent until we get into the Championship. So when is that happening, then? Isn't that reasoning a bit daft? Why not invest now, build a team, develop the playing staff, win the title and then get promoted? Isn't that what the fans want? Or do we grind out stale result after stale result, the odd mishap at home, a series of spirit-crushing defeats, you know ... the sort of shit we have been fed for the past eight years? Playoffs? Another defest and a trudge home down Wembley Way and a look forward to div three next year?

If the answer is 'yes', don't expect Cluff to hang about too long.

the thing that pisses me off is that it was in exactly the same press releases and statements that we wouldn't spend silly money until were in the championship but people hold onto the game changing investment comment like it is the be all and end all of the club. 11 players we have signed. 11. Could understand if we had signed 1 or 2 bit we have signed 11. None of which come for free (contrary to popular belief....)

I never for one minute believed the game changing investment line and was quite happy for us to build a squad on modest finances BUTwe were told we didnt have to sell our young talent and we did

Then we didnt even attempt to go in for the two loan players who played a major part in the turnaround in our season and NOW the manager has gone to the board asking for 3 or 4 players that he thinks we need and .......well ....and

I dot get the point people are making when they say 'we've signed 11'. So what? Every club has signed at least 6 or 7 in summer, that's what happens. Doesn't mean we've invested, jus we've replaced the players we've lost.

Edit: Crawley have brought in 15. Does that mean they have MAJOR game changing investment?

but that's exactly what we are doing. Signing a combination of youth, experience and quite a few very highly rated players to get us out of this division, blooding youth, investing in a backroom staff who should have been out of our price range and a major coup for us, investing in the infrastructure of the club. We won't and shouldn't be paying way over the odds for journeymen big names who people perceive as a "big signing" just for the sake of it. Its a shame Wallace and butler have not shown their potential for whatever reason as I imagine that would pipe quite a few people down.

Can't you all see through what is happening?

Mal is leaking info to young kids and the wannabe "ITK"s (you know, the trusted third parties) to judge how the fans will react to each potential signing... What then happens is the names are instantly slated beyond all belief by the baying masses and we're back to square one.

That, or people talk and believe any old bollocks, every single year.

Really?

Had he said we're not looking to do any business, then we did, he'd be called a liar.

What reason do you have to doubt that there is a "small chance" that we'll be doing business?

Do you really think he thought he'd string fans along with a teaser just to save a few hours of toy chucking on Twitter (which, by the way, it wouldn't anyway)?
spot oon foxy some blades cant waite to slagg the club i have confidence in clough iwill say again leave him to get on with it
i am sure he and the powers that be want out of this league as soon as possible he is developing the team and club

If you're talking Brayford and Coady then get some facts to it. Both wanted to play at the highest level possible. We are an average div III in mid rebuild. They got championship. One still on mega money too. Get over it.

And once Harry said 'I want out' then he was always going to go. Can't fault Clough for only wanting players that want to be here?

zzzzzzzzzz you are by far away the most boring human being on this forum, which is a shame because your a decent fella a way from it. At least when we beat Rochdale then go on a 15 game winning streak all the doom and gloomers can crawl back under their rocks until January when they will no doubt resurface and moan about not spending any money again zzzzzzz

Most of us trust Nigel but not many trust the knobheads in the boardroom, looks like Nigel's hands are tied ......... same owd same owd.

Not to worry OG has already put a couple in and now there is a rumour of this Small Chance fella signing.

I think without the Prince we would probably have gone down last season as we were broke & wouldnt have been able to sack Weir.

However this is our best chance of getting out of this league this season & penny pinching when being bullish & getting the extra players that NC wants to get us up will get the the board their outlay back at promotion.

I fear failure this season will see many fans walk away.
