Outgoing? Burrows

This club is done for. Fans happy that Burrows is off when he has a great G/A record, a good crosser of the ball and just generally a much better player than McCallum. It's alright though cos we've got Norrington-Davies as back up! We won't see the Prem for at least another decade with these sorts of decisions.

Burrows has the heart of a mouse
Doesn't want to be here
And is the neshest defender I can remember seeing at bdtbl
His attacking out put is nowhere near what it should be as he has the talent but like bogle and hamer before him he shows up when he feels like.it and obviously thinks he deserves a bigger club than us

Most of our players have the heart of a mouse, hence why last season happened. With Brooks and Hamer gone, he's one of the very few in our side with an ounce of creativity, so to sell him would be very disappointing. Look forward to more bore draws or tight defeats as we simply don't have enough players that can make something happen.

Yep he is going on 25 in January and not being 1st choice has probably realised he needs to make his move now if the interest is there. He isn't going to get improved terms here and probably wouldn't be looking at a new contract either on any better deal at least. If he was aged 26 when his contract ran out and not getting many minutes due to him being behind the pecking order, he would be looking hard to find his next pay cheque. If the likes of Wolves or West Ham (rumoured) come in then with agents agreeing contracts with promotion bonuses he is likely to get promotion with one of them clubs in the next few years and become much richer for it. Although he might not be 1st choice there either, similar to when Wes went to West Ham as 3rd choice keeper on the big bucks you don't blame them for it.

Despite all his qualities though, I'd start Mccallum ahead of him all day long.

He's found himself in a similar position to what Keiron Freeman found himself in once Baldock joined. Still a very good player but a clear second choice to McCallum on last 12 months form.

You are judging him purely on what he does with the ball. His primary duty as a left back is what he does without the ball. In every aspect of defending McCallum is better than him.

You musn't have seen many games or suffer from memory loss if he is the neshest defender you have seen at the lane.

Have a look at last season in totality. McCallum and Seriki were both poisitioning themselves in the box and leaving the opposition get on the ball out wide. It appears to have been tactical from Selles that Wilder didnt change. This season all fullbacks are defending the wide areas better.

For me... McCallum is better than Burrows for:

Heading
Tackling
Throw ins

Pace and crossing is similar.

Burrows has scored more goals, but had more game time iirc.

We need the wonga and selling Burrows will provide that.

Be nowt to talk about if we all had the same opinions.

I don’t rate Burrows all round game at all. Awful defensively and can’t beat a man going forward. His end product is good, but I think McCallum offers more to the team overall. RND is ok as a back up but nothing more. I won’t miss Burrows aimlessly pumping it down the line the second he’s under pressure, so many times he was the reason we’d turn the ball over (some blame lies with midfielders who won’t pass forward).

i always rated burrows but his form has fallen off a cliff in the last year with bbd arriving i think we will let burrows go and agree with you rnd is no more than a back up for mcallum he wont displace him imo
 



Whether you rate him or not, he's not in the first 11 and has value as a saleable asset. Would be nice to keep him but if anyone has to go, he's one of the ones that can, same with Cannon, if a player isn't starting but someone is willing to pay decent money, it's better to sell those players than regulars or the ones with little or no value.
 
Sometimes I have to question whether some ‘fans’ have actually ever seen a game of football before. He’s one of our more talented players by quite a distance, and still young, and we look far more dangerous going forward with him on the pitch. Neshest player ever at BDTBL? Minds of goldfish on here.

Yet he isn’t first choice in his position. When we have other areas in the squad that need reinforcements a backup LB isn’t a bad way to free up funds.

Is burrows better than RND, of course he is but we can’t afford the luxury of 2 very good championship left backs.

It was a point you made secondly, but to respond to your first point,
He's great attack minded, but fails to do the basics defensively, gets caught out. Hes slow to react and gets pushed off ball easily, and the diving cost us 2 good chances in last 2 games.
and i don't think he gets in over Sam McCallum so should cash in while hes still under contract and look at a more attacking option wingers or a 10
 
BBD said that Burrows had been msg him to come back to the lane. That doesn’t sound like he’s (Burrows) on his way out to me!
