Ffs,we can’t help it can we,resurrecting the dead time after time,he didn’t do much the first time round and neither for Stoke.

According to Transfermarkt he never played a full 90 minutes for us, either being subbed on or subbed off in each of his 35 appearances. He only played more than 70 minutes four times and still scored 7 goals from the right. I’m not sure we should go back either but he was a decent player for us in a team that finished third.

He got 2 assists 🤣

So no, I’m not going to ignore assists. It’s a contribution I suppose, but nothing to get excited about.
He then went and had a successful WC campaign (you can't tell me how he played against the teams they faced wasn't successful) and has since kicked on when returned to us

JRS scored 2 goals last season, wasn't wanted back by Stoke fans and has done... what since?

I liked him. I think he had a hell of a lot more to offer as well. I just feel Wilder didn't like him, and he didn't enjoy his time here either.

Rak Saki was great as was tyler bindon

We need young players who we can possibly get on a permanent and mould them into good players for the future of the club

Signing crocked players on there last contract will end in tears

Look at how Rak saki / Brooks / Seriki are treated compared to Arblaster / Peck / Shackleton

Wilder has his favourites and its usually the ones hed like to go for a pint with

I mean, it could be attitude and work ethic too.
Im not saying those three had bad ones, but he did question it publicly at times.

Rak saki had the best defensive numbers in the league for charlton when we signed him

I’m not sure they’re treated any differently are they?
I remember Rak Saki having a number of decent games but a lot where he just couldn’t get involved enough. Similarly with Brooks, he’s a very talented lad but his form even last season was very in and out.
Seriki and Peck are much more consistent performers and have kept their places accordingly. Arblaster is an outstanding talent but needs time to play himself back to full match sharpness.
Neither Brooks or Rak Saki could say they didn’t get plenty of opportunity. I’d love to have kept Brooks but I think we got great money for him.

Why's this thread resurfaced? Wilder didn't pick Rak-Sakyi in the playoff final squad for no obvious reason - he was a big player for us that season (doesn't get talked about enough, this decision). Clearly doesn't like him.

Choosing BBD over JRS in the playoffs was one of Wilder's biggest mistakes imo. Rak-Sakyi always had a moment of brilliance in him. BBD didn't offer anything.
This is the BBD who banged a load of goals in for us in the PL just before? Had we picked JRS and lost, people would be saying the same thing the other way round.

I remember the Plymouth away game he was our only attacking outlet that day (i think he scored for us)
Wilder did his usual and subbed him on around 65 mins cant remember who for but our attacking play suddenly diminished Plymouth got into the game and we all know ended up winning the game 2-1
Wilder clearly has his favourites and his decision that day cost us at least a point possibly three

Not just before, over a year before. He looked a shadow of that player in his 2nd stint with us. He was hardly the player in form leading up to the PL final.

I get you’re a big Wilder fan, but even he will admit that he doesn’t get every decision right. This was a big one that he got wrong, and it doesn’t even need hindsight to say that.

They wouldn't, because BBD had been poor 2nd time around and that matters a lot more than any evidence from a completely different situation

JRS was the far superior player that season

BBD for us in the Championship that season: 18 games 4 goals 3 assists
JRS: 35 games 7 goals 2 assists

His PL appearances for us were literally the season before, they couldn't be any more "just before".

I like JRS as a player and agree that he looked better than BBD that season on the right hand side where he was more comfortable. Neither started in the final and Brooks was brought on to replace Brewster on the right. Speaking to fans that day, I didn't find loads of people complaining about the lineup before kick off or saying they'd have started JRS.

It might have been a mistake, but to say it's a big mistake without hindsight is an exaggeration. Wilder gets stuff wrong all the time and clearly got stuff wrong in that game, as all managers do.

Think everyone assumed Rak-Sakyi must have been injured. Suspect VAR may have dominated a lot of post-match chat.

I'm not anti-Wilder but the second half had a lot of glaring errors in tactics and personnel.
