If you were a player thinking of coming to Sheffield United and you heard the 12 point deduction rumour, would you come? Especially with the lack of explanation from the owners about alleged debt and legal matters.
If you were a better player on the verge of leaving for a better offer, would this tip the balance?
If you were the manager would you yourself feel impotent and undermined?
Is saying that the club is separate and we are in a good position and not addressing the issues of one owner potentially being banned from active ownership and alleged points deduction likely to hamper on the field matters?
Owners, please get your lawyer’s craniums together and issue a statement that will reassure and steady the ship publicly in a recruitment and retention period.

We're no longer a club any decent player is going to want to come to anymore.

Even without the threat of the potential points deduction.

Look at all the players that have now left over the past 2/3 years.

Ndiaye
Berge
Bogle
McBurnie
Baldock
Egan
Osula
Slimane
Souza
Ahmedhodzic
Moore
Brooks

It hasn't been a sudden mass exodus but these squads we're cobbling together are now getting weaker and weaker season on season.

It's a bit of a weird situation for players, as most of them won't be too worried about legal situations around SUFC, most players just want game time, and as long as we can guarantee that, we should be able to get players in.

What might be worth remembering, is that Pigs got players in last season while in administration on reduced L1 wages, and this was after several news stories over the summer about late/unpaid wages, so in theory, anything is possible.

As fans, we're heading snippets of what going on. People in the game, certainly at the club will have a greater insight as to what's going on. The talk we hear is the headline creating hype, the reality will be somewhere in the margins and Agents, Players, Staff will all have a greater grasp of real situation. As such, I don't think it's possible to judge what players will or won't do when offered a contract.

PL Loan signings aren't joining us, or any Champ team, to become regulars and sign on, long term, we're just a stepping stone to get minutes, in the hope of breaking into their PL first teams.

Of course people like to win, but really they'll want to come if they get game time, play in a big atmosphere and can learn something along the way. The off field politics will be secondary IMO.

A young player at a PL club, serious about their development and needing game time, if offered a loan, would probably crawl over glass to sign for any club in the Championship. As would a free agent in need of a contract.

Beyond that, settled players who don't need a move would certainly think twice. But we aren't doing permanents anyway.
