It's probably us having a clean sheet that's upset our so called supporters.
It was obviously a huge disappointment for so many![]()
It's just strange that we have so many opinions when we lose but it all goes much quieter if we've won!So we have to lose to have an opinion?
It’s a public forum specifically for raising viewpoints. It’s this kind of division and side picking that reinforces my opinion of CWs reappointment driving a wedge down the middle of the fanbase.
Yes but didn’t Willder bring Hecky in?Actually the only reason "we've been punching " is because of what Heckingbottom achieved.
Without his promotion we'd be in a far worse state than we are now.
Didnt Wilder bring in Hecky? - Look I know opinions differ but tell me when it’s gone well for us when we’ve tried to have a reset and change the DNA of the club? I’ve been watching us since the late 1970s and Apart from arguably Kendall and Spackman the best times have pretty much all come from resolute, up and at them, muck and brass football. It’s not always worked, the football under Blackwell was bloody awful but some of the good times under Harry, Warnock and Wilder have been the best.Actually the only reason "we've been punching " is because of what Heckingbottom achieved.

It’s more the barbed comments on both sides that are the issue. Really good to see you mention opinion, that’s the whole point on both sides, too many feel they are right as opposed to the reality that it is purely opinion. So we have to lose to have an opinion?

The latter part is the main issue, continually putting square pegs into round holes when there are options available to put the players into their proper positions.Yes but didn’t Willder bring Hecky in?

Yet we seem to have thread after thread after thread attempting to undermine the club and divide the fan base. What do these fans want? jocanović back again or maybe Selles? Cos we won’t be bringing in any top guys, we can’t afford it. Surely Chris’ biggest critics have to accept he loves the club and I’d take that any day over some mediocre cliché ridden nonentity with no understanding of the soul of the club and no idea how to put a winning team together.
Wilder IN.Once Harry and Anel are back in we will be in good shape.
Agree, if they started vs birmingham, wed have won 3 0Once Harry and Anel are back in we will be in good shape.
We're on Hookey St alrightNew theme tune for Only Fools & Horses?
Needs a bit of work....
7/10
Probably as much chance as Eiran Cashin on the last day on loan.Once Harry and Anel are back in we will be in good shape.
Did it get us a trophy??and? Did we get a trophy? Where did the money go? Are we closer to finishing in the premier league or league one now?
Did it get us a trophy??
Where did the money go - wages and transfer fees plus ground and training ground improvements.
If you want us to be sat now with lots of cash saved from the premier league days you are also talking against your own argument for success as it takes cash - lots of it that we don’t and probably never will have.
I’d lower your expectations or support another team mate as you are going to be disappointed if 2 promotions and a 9th place PL finish are not good enough.
So what you're saying here (and im starting to think it also), is that wilder got prettt lucky with his purchases.United aren't a club, under Wilder that invests a lot of time in coaching individuals (a point confirmed by Wilder).
The players from 16-20 were disciplined, tactically excellent, naturally fit and athletic and mature. The system they played showed that. The defensive rotations were excellent, everyone knew who and where they were to cover when someone else was pressing or was out of position. In short, the players were just better at those elements of the game and there was a much, much smaller requirement on the managerial team to improve it for them or work on it individually.
The team of the last 3 years is pretty undisciplined, lacks natural fitness/athleticism and contains players who make the same stupid mistakes over and over with seemingly little mental ability to correct them. They need more coaching, more structure and to be guided through matches in a way the previous version didn't - you see this when one player is drawn out of position, the whole structure falls apart and looks a complete mess.
It appears that the way United have decided to compensate for this is, rather than work on individuals and structure, defensive rotations and deep understanding of your role, is to drop 20-30 yards deeper and hope defensive solidity can be found through strength in numbers.
I think it is very fair to say that the majority of players still like Wilder and are still 'playing for him'. But I don't think he trusts them, or his ability to improve them tactically and to install better discipline and maturity enough to give them more leeway. It's probably why he wants 'experience' in. But I think aptitude is the thing that is missing most, in all areas of the club
Reminder that this entire narrative is based on him talking about mistakes leading to goals. And him saying they don't need to be coached to stop those kind of mistakes.United aren't a club, under Wilder that invests a lot of time in coaching individuals (a point confirmed by Wilder).
I think he bought incredibly well in a market he knew and Paul Mitchell did a good job too. He had a type, and it worked perfectly. So what you're saying here (and im starting to think it also), is that wilder got prettt lucky with his purchases.
He had an excellent knowledge of L1&2 football and finally had the budget to go and get the players he rated.I think he bought incredibly well in a market he knew and Paul Mitchell did a good job too. He had a type, and it worked perfectly.
This is exactly the kind of attitude that lets this club off the hook time and time again. Sheffielders have zero ambition, it’s like everyone has imposter syndrome (“oh it can’t happen to us, have to lower our expectations, we can’t possibly spend 10’s of millions and establish ourselves in the premier league). It’s bollocks, defeatist and holds us back.
I’ve just watched Ipswich spend £200m, I’ve watched Cov sign some very good players. I watched Sunderland last time round spend very well and have a go. Nah not us. Same old shite.
We only had one shot on target.is that birmingham team same as last season you could argue we had 2 chances to have all 3 if it wasn't for decent stops from there keeper i dont think cooper had anything to do apart from routine catches early days we will become more potent bamford is guarenteed goals at this level
or both teams had a good defense, that made little errors. early days its a clean sheet with a team with little signings, im a cup half full person me pal negativity only encourages negativity we take the positives for now. The team looks fitter i think players like Campbell can find there form again i would much prefer him playing up top with Bamford in a 442 if were going to play that formation again. We only had one shot on target.
Except for the good save Cooper did down too his right at the Kop end.
Birmingham where equally as poor, they probably shaded midfield but they looked just as woeful in attack as we were.
Both teams look mid to lower table.
It looks like we're heading for stormy waters. Wether you like Chris Wilder or not. At this moment in time, he is the best man for the job. My concern is that the owners will drive him into a corner and he will say enough is enough.
Wouldn't surprise me if he walks if we don't get any more players and this situation continues
Disagree; realism and ambition are not mutually exclusive. The difference is that this can result in achievement, whereas unrealistic ambition generally ends in disaster (If a club has shed loads of money, they can realistically expect to achieve more, sooner - doesn't mean they will do so in the long run). If anyone has the money... come on down and I'll reassess. This is exactly the kind of attitude that lets this club off the hook time and time again. Agree, until we actually have an owner or owners that spend a fair bit on infrastructure and playing squad ie nearly throwing an open cheque book at it, it will not change. Jokanovic was the correct man to lead this but unfortunately, we didn't have the ownership that had the ££ to turn over the Wilder era DNA thus leading to his sacking and heckingbottom picking up where wilder left offYes but didn’t Willder bring Hecky in?

It a realistic attitude unless we get very rich owners, and unfortunately it’s unlikely a city like Sheffield or a club with a fan base like ours will attract such an individual. This is exactly the kind of attitude that lets this club off the hook time and time again.
