Yes, you’re right it has. But most of the time he’s had to go for his second options so if what you’re saying is right they must think they’ve got a very good chance of getting Souttar or were financially in a hole & wont be signing anyone

You think of the players he’s wanted in the past most of the time we’ve had to settle for second best. Especially when we were in the Championship with Wilder pre promotion. There was always the Villa joke of every player we wanted they signed.

I agree, Wilders plans seem to have been torn up by the board. However he could have used the Phillips money elsewhere, still don't understand what he offers that the other 4 samey mids do.

They have done same as we did & mortgaged against parachute payments last year. So same position as us.

Seriously need to find a way to stop clubs doing that. We & Burnley won’t be the last to end up in a mess due to that strategy.

I've no doubt we're making enquiries with other players..

But moreover, he might not be referring to anybody. I suspect he's been told by an "internal source" that the ongoing issues are putting players off joining.

I'm asking why that source might be sharing that info and why they're happy for it to be reported.

Forget the players, I'm more interested in what's going off between the club & the media.
