As much as we blame him, I can only imagine how frustrated Wilder is at the moment. There’s no chance he’s watching us miss out on all our targets & not pulling his hair out
He looks tired of it to me. He’s said as much as he can without getting into trouble.
Regardless of loving or loathing Wilder he is 100% the best man to manage us right now with zero infrastructure.

Disagree. He's still pushing them to get Souttar. Not a cat in hells chance we have any other targets, as has always been the case

Shock horror!

If I was Wilder this is what I'd do given we all know we're skint. Keep McGuiness, play more defensive, low block etc which would mean they'd be much less space behind McGuiness which is when he's at his most vulnerable. Stick with Donovan on one wing and Chong or a new signing on the other and hit teams on the counter. Play O'Hare back in his best position in the number 10. This team isn't good enough to be pressing and dominating matches possession wise.

Play one striker, Bamford, and then even Cannon would do well in the line striker role. 4-2-3-1.

Save the money from any expensive centre back and spend it on Clearly from Barnsley. He's then be our asset to develop.

That's my uneducated thoughts anyway!

I was one of the few voices on here at the time venturing an opinion that we should be putting a chunk of PL money into training facilities / training ground, mainly because i wanted to definitely see United have some tangible positive of being in the PL. Also, in the knoweldge that United can and often do cock things up. It was an opportinity missed, but on the flip side, if we had bought well and stayed up then that would have been the right thing. Easy in hindsight, but i remember wanting us to spend some of the Brewster money on the facilities.

As an aside, if we was to sell Peck for a decent fee, id like us to reinvest it all into the training facilities....and not on players.
Also been of this view for ages. Simple common sense

If you're going to come into riches, make sure you have something real, tangible and permanent to show for it

Maybe One on the left? After all, CW said he can play left, right or in the middle.

We were never going to offer better wages than Southampton. Not sure why he was classed as attainable when a parachute payment team were after him

Probably because we've sold Hamer and Brooks and got their wages off the books. Since that, we've only brought Donovan and Phillips in on loan. I can't imagine Donovan being on big wages and much has been said about the Phillips deal being favourable terms for us.

Add to that the fact that we've had bids in, presumably for Souttar and it means we have some money somewhere. Should be enough to cover a healthy wage for at least 1 or 2 players.

Souttar is clearly the only player we are willing to pay over the odds for. Even then, if Southampton and Burnley came in, he'd go there.

The wage bill is still way too high for a non parachute payment team. We are probably ok to have one more big earner on the books but even then, we're not going to be in a position to offer more than a parachute payment club

I imagine Anel would have happily come back here if more lucrative offers didn’t materialise. That scenario amounting to “attainable” is a bit of a stretch but not impossible.

I just think once a parachute payment club showed genuine interest, he was out of our reach just like any other player. It's just the position we're in now after blowing the last couple of seasons when we were one of the powerful clubs. We're not anymore and we also have the added hangover of unwanted players being on good wages

Bang on. This is what happens when you shit the bed twice. I don't doubt we'll still have a reasonable budget, but we're top 6-top 10, not top 3.

Woooooa, I dont blame him one bit.
I just share his frustration

It's clearly in the interest of Hall and a few others to portray any deal for Ahmedhodzic as "attainable" even though it very clearly isn't.
