How many is that in a row now?

Closer to the level of Preston and Cardiff now than the big boys at this level, and closer to the likes of Chesterfield than the rest of them in how we operate when it comes to transfers.

Even Donny have a better method than us as they use a data based and then man based method of filtering players who to bring in. I assume we just use the back of a fag packet.

Less than 2 weeks of the transfer window, we have a player Wilder openly said he wanted rid of as our starting centre back, no left winger, an inexperienced right winger and an ineffective injury prone one to supplement him, no creative spark and about 5 of the same midfielder. Pair that with the fact we have a 10m dud upfront that the manager just won't bench, and I really do fear the worst for this season. Deduction or not.

Utterly pathetic, and it's going to catch up with us eventually. So why not this year?

It is embarrassing. And boring. And dispiriting.

Would be good if COH read this. Barely any fans are content/confident with how things are.

No plan. No structure. No planned structure. Can barely field an 11 of players in their natural positions.

As it stands, any lengthy injury to Cooper, Seriki, O'Hare or Bamford and it's probably worth betting on relegation immediately.

I think the one where we sold Blackman on deadline day and replaced him with Jon Forte was the best of the worst windows!

I'm at the point now where I'm choosing to see the funny side! Why hope for more, best to accept we're DOOOOOMED I tell ya! We're DOOOOOMED!

Wilder, the recruitment team, coaches and owners should not have had a summer break so this debacle could have been sorted out. Wilder said it would not be a repeat of last season, this season
Anyone wanting to bet against it?

Who have we actually signed?

Matt Doherty, is that it?

First club ever to sign just one player in a summer transfer window?

This isn't on Wilder whatsoever - this is on the 'we haven't got a clue owners' . Wilder would have clearly given his list over weeks ago but these Yanks haven't the appetite anymore. Without being totally blunt about it Chris has said as much as he can in the last 5 interviews.

And given it's like this anyone who thinks there is a better man than Wilder for the job 'at the moment' is on cloud cuckoo.

He is completely holding it altogether, a new manager coming into this shit show wouldn't last 2 minutes.

Plus Riedewald and Phillips/Donovan loans.

To be fair I'd forgotten about (probably washed up) Matt Doherty, so I take it all back.

We'll end up panic buying a load of dross at the end of next week.

Like a 34 year old defender from Reading or Blackpool and some young African lad from a team in Belgium you've never heard of.

I am not sure that it is in the views of the current owners, it is likely going as expected, given the now constant talking about the reduced financial position of the club from the manager.

It would currently appear that the planning for this season is all about survival and of Championship status, which they likely believe that we currently have enough within the squad, with the addition of a perm CB and loan LW or FW?

It's yet to be seen if there is 3 worst teams than us in the league this season?

I think bottom half of the league for most of the season at this point is probably not a bad prediction, just how bad it gets could largely depend on how poor some of the other teams are.

There are some weak teams, but we're hugely reliant on those guys I mentioned.

Right now I don't think we get relegated, but without O'Hare/Bamford in particular... Where and how do we score ANY goals?! It's shameful/ridiculous squad building as always.

I am not sure that squad building is high on the agenda at present, more like sticky plaster assembly to try and stay in the league?

Its not a repeat of last year so Wilder is technically correct........

Its far far worse than last season ......

Shambolic, pathetic, inexcusable, negligent.

The summer where we lost N'Diaye and Berge was beyond words. And we have somehow managed to cock it up even more so, in subsequent summers - namely last season and this. We're inactive at best.

Look Chris I know you think you are gods gift and I love that weird mouth movement you make when interviewed but this is down to you. You fd up in what should have been a promotion which cost you the job then you come back and make things worse.

We’ve always sold our key players.

Considering the Hamer saga dragged on all summer, you would have thought we have a replacement lined up to sign whenever he does go.

Obviously, we did not. I can accept us not spending tens of millions of pounds. I can't accept us putting out half a team on the first day of the season AGAIN. For the third time in four years.

It's not good enough, regardless of the excuses that will be rolled out in the next weeks/months. There can't be another club in the EFL that is so woefully underprepared at the start of every season.

This.

I don't expect big money signings or big names. I don't expect to be left short and under prepared.

I'm with the original poster here, the Blades are my second team and lucky enough to be able to alternative my viewing when the blades are at home combined with my other team being away (not Wednesday) and hugely regret already renewing my SU season ticket with what feels like another amateur hour summer. £500+ spanked away on a transfer window as exciting as watching paint dry. Left short and under prepared as someone else has said, sums everything up beautifully.

I think some of the top sides have gone without new signings in the summer in the past, together with those enduring a transfer ban !!

I know mate, I was only joking.

We're always on the lookout for the next Benie Traore or Djibril Soumare.

Seriously though, the transfer window opened 65 days ago and we've made one permanent transfer in Matt fucking Doherty.

That can't be normal.

Perhaps it is our “new normal” !

Again, i don't count it as a permanent, as its a 12 month deal.. so will be released, along with Rothwell, Bamford, Riedewald and likely Seriki in the summer. Leading to another crap summer.

The only decent summer we had was summer 2025.
