We should have signed Bobby Thomas instead. Thought so at the time and the season has vindicated it

But what a truly terrible mistake for him that would have been!
He wasn’t for sale unless stupid money so we couldn’t sign him and even if we could would he have come ?

We were interested in both him and Tanganga, and Thomas seemed to be in the same price bracket

Not sure if he'd have signed but if our interest was advanced we likely had indications that he was willing

Bumping because the guy deserves some praise today. Often criticised on this forum, but he put in a quality performance. More of the same please Japhet!

He's started like he started last season. Immense.

Throw in a fully fit Cooper who is now coming early and claiming dangerous crosses again rather than struggling like he did last year.

Agreed probably man of the match today
Mcgueiness also played his part too.His best blades performance to date! He was more aggressive and sharper which he had to be on the day as Brum were throwing balls into the spaces! he and Tanganga were our stand out players against a physical and big Brum.
Has he taken up the challenge Wilder has thrown at him( not part of his squad) Wilder called out some of the squad when he first came in (2016)and some took it on board some didnt! the rest is history..

It was one of Tanganga & McGuinness for us.
Could've been Seriki but he was too wasteful with his end product.

I'd marginally go for Tanganga because his intervention when their player went through 2 on 1 probably won us a point.

One thing none of the media guys are asking is this - Why has the management favoured playing a defensive midfielder at right back when he’s clearly uncomfortable there when we have Tanganga who has played there in the Champion’s League and can easily backfill Tanganga with McGuinness or Baptiste?

That would be far more square pegs in square holes and the option has been there for weeks.

Because the manager hasn’t got a fucking clue.

That would involve potentially upsetting him when they’d prefer to try and nosh him off

Just like the could ask him why the young, exciting match winner we’ve signed on loan from the premier league warms the bench while the totally ineffective donkey that is BBD gets to start every week.

Or they could ask "no matter which players are picked in defence, why do they consistently leave opposition players unmarked in the box?"

We could have built a decent relationship with Brentford - with Andrews and Lester it should have been easy - and continued to get their young exciting players they find and bring through (maybe even a forrun or two!) but this has probably ruined it.

Wilder will probably be heaping blame on Donovan and basically saying "told you so" to everyone who wants to see more of him (while praising Campbell for reasons only he knows) and we'll see the odd 10 minutes here and there before he's sent to Middlesbrough or Stoke in January.

Could have done with Millwall going up instead of hull and signing Tanganga back.

Hes not very bright is he.

Hoping he starts rb next game alongside McGuinness and kitching, and has a decent game and puts stop to seeing choudhury play there again.

Hamza gets the ‘culture’ and is a top lad. That comes over ability to play in the position assigned in Chris Wilder Land.

🥱 Wow, I hope typing that gave your finger some exercise, as that's the only useful thing it has done (though it may be sticking in the air right now, which I hope adds to the value for you).

Maybe explain why someone not even in our top 5 best right backs at the club is playing there regularly, badly and still getting away with it?

Choudhury has played RB plenty at this level for us, and for a Leicester team that won the division. He's played the position more than Tanganga has, I'm pretty sure. He's no more a 'square peg in a round hole' than Tanganga would be at RB. He's just not playing very well. If Seriki was fit, he wouldn't be playing at all.

And, when Wilder played Tanganga RB last year, he was crap and everybody complained he was being played out of position.

Don't think it's a coincidence that Millwall have started looking like proper promotion challengers since Tanganga came out of their team.

Can you imagine us signing someone like Crama, Neghli, Arconte or Mazou-Sacko?

Millwall and Alex Neil are everything United and Wilder think they are, but we're a really, really poor imitation of it.

Nah wilder thinks we're 2004 everton.

But we are a very very very shit version.

And that is where the problem is. He is too busy looking into the past where in football terms that is absolutely light years away from today's football. I dont think he fully understands how much the game as moved forward and what players it requires to keep the standard now.

Although he has played at RB and did so at the start of MK3 of Wilder when we had Mee and Bindon, he wasn't convincing in that slot, when you look at the RB position and who we have for it, Shackleton (this seasons miracle man) out injured and has only played 20 times in 2 years, Doherty injured and played 2 times for us, Seriki injured since August.

In the U21's we have Sam Colechin as a natural RB and Ben Purches who is a CB/FB ex Bournemouth academy. Choudhary is not a RB but "can play there", like most footballers can play on a pitch somewhere. Over the 3 week international break, we knew we were only had Choudhary for the RB position, if we didn't think Colechin could step-up for a game or 2 whilst Seriki comes back due to the injuries that were outstanding, what was stopping us if we are insistent 4-4-2 (variations of) are the way forward of bringing a specialist RB in on a free, similar to like the 1st contracts of Jairo and Bamford were, until January. They would have had 3 weeks with the 1st team to get up to speed and we could have actually been playing someone fit for purpose.

Wilder think’s Choudhury is a RB. Go figure 🤷‍♂️

You wouldn't mind so much if there was some creative flair going forwards, like Burrows at LB isn't great at defending but bombing it forwards fair play to him. We may as well just pick on a player that needs minutes like RND and tell him to mark his man and if in doubt just hoof it out into row Z but don't go past the half way line or cut inside.

Because all the right backs in the squad are injured ?
I’d still say that there are better options than Choudhury. I’m not sure how many times we have to watch a winger get past him and cross the ball before he’s deemed unsuitable by the manager. Then there are occasions he dives in and leaves us exposed, or the times he manages to show the opposition player onto his stronger foot instead of his weaker one.
