I think it’s a great signing tbh. No fee, and his contract is up soon so if goes well I can see it being a tap in free signing. Well worth a punt seen as he’s only recently been bought for £50m and it’s clear that his form was destroyed by being dismantled by the manager and having his competition be Rodri. He also owes us for not letting us demolish those twats

I think it will all come down to his attitude. He clearly has the ability. If he wants to be a good player for us (assuming he stays injury free, which is a biggie) then he will be.
If only we were to give him a chance ….

Peck has to be leaving and I believe he thought he would have gone by now but the DD case delayed stuff as they did not know how it was going to go. (Buying club)

If he stays fit Phillips will be our best player, but that's only because we did a fire sale on Brooks and unfortunately Peck will be gone imo. No internal knowledge apart from someone close ish to Peck did not expect to see him come back after closed season.

A fit Kalvin Phillips is in the top 5 best midfielders in the league.....lets just hope he stays fit and doesn't hatchet job someone's knee again

Can’t get excited by this as it means we are losing a CM and the only one we have worth anything is Peck who is by far our best and most consistent player.

This signing will no doubt mean we start the season with Phillips , Rothwell , Jairo and Oli as our midfield 4 … hope they have extra beds in the physio suite is all I’m saying.

I will take it all back if the door slams shut and we still have peck and offloaded Rothwell

So he’s our highest‑paid player (according to you), but also our best player if he stays fit; which arguably makes him rightfully the highest‑paid player (also according to you).

Probably yes, I think the signing is us preempting a Peck sale.

An alternative view would be it’s with the thought process of Reidwald playing the occasional game at CB so we only need to sign 1 more & game management over Arblaster’s fitness.

i like the player, i like the signing, and i dont think it signals any sale of Peck either.

It will be a very good deal for us financially, and importantly, the lad wants to be here. I know its a 50/50 signing but if all goes well we could start to see a real player again. Moan if you want to and complain, or.... you can choose to be cautiously optimistic with this signing. Im going with the latter.

I keep seeing this we now got 5 midfielders. Simple fact. In a 25 man squad you need 6. 9 defenders, 3 keepers, 7 attackers. We are still short. See lots of line ups. In the modern game its a matchday squad. Just look at that bench last Sunday.

Peck’s post match interview was a little strange to me. He seemed to lack any spark or enthusiasm. I hope he remains with us.

I like Adam a lot but it was an infuriating line of questioning. Very unfair on the player to put him in such an awkward position.

Brooks went in the summer and he’s been a Unitedite all his life. It’s their job.
