"I’m not sure what being unfit has got to do with being aggressive…but the reason he gets booked isn’t because he’s aggressive, it’s because he’s unfit and undisciplined. He gives away lazy, cynical fouls because he’s not fit enough to track back after he’s lost the ball."

Spot on. He is superb on the ball, always likely to create that magic moment either with a shot or pass.
Unfortunately without the ball he can be a liability and opposition midfielders run past him far too easily.
Having said that, I'll miss him as he's the only player we have that excites me when he's got the ball.

The way he’s let his fitness deteriorate since joining us has been a disgrace. I wish we’d seen him in peak condition. Always baffled me, a player with that talent should be as fit as possible and he could play much higher! It’s the reason no one else ever signed him from us.

Still, we saw some magic with the ball at his feet. Couldn’t lace Ndiaye’s boots though

Is that cos he couldn't bend down due to his big belly?

Not sure his fitness was that great at Coventry either.

Is it written down in a book of rules that any fee we get for Hamer will NOT be swallowed up in the same way that the Brooks money has... when all we have seen after that is the recruitment of a possible young winger headless chicken and right back that is one injury away from the knackers yard..

Souttar and others are just a pipe dream to keep us interested...last season all that money wasted on A 👁️ .

Atm moment with Coventry signing 2 new MFs he'll be coming off the bench and not starting
I think if it was just 5/6 million hé wojkd have been gone by now. If it’s 3 midfielders yhey have brought in maybe they can Chuck one at us to sweeten the deal

To be fair, Wilder also had him in and out of the squad. I think he was always one of those players that Wilder probably wouldn’t have signed but he knew his quality.

Fitness & mobility is the biggest issue for Hamer. He struggled with getting around the pitch & seeing out 90 minutes. Undeniable talent though

Yes undeniable talent but his discipline was awful and he suffered regular suspensions which disrupted the team each time. Let him move on if we can get a reasonable fee for him and put his wages towards another talent e.g. Souttar.

Collects more yellow cards than most people have hot dinners.

People rightly point out he gets those cards because he struggles to track back and decides to commit to a challenge instead.

Aye, said in shoutbox that there’ll be some mental gymnastics being done to say he was shit.

He is a gifted player. But as good as he was in our 92 point season (winning championship player lf the season), he was as poor last season. Mainly a passenger who looked a little uninterested and not as fit as he should have been. To the point that United usually looked better when he wasnt in the side. No mental gymnastics on my part to say that im fairly indifferent to Hamer going for a reasonable fee. Time for others to come in and step up to the plate. I genuinely dont think we will moss him that much. Nice player when he fancies it though, and i wish him well. He's a nice lad.

It will be interesting where he plays for you.

Wilder still found a position where he got more goals and assist combined than he did at Coventry and in fewer matches.

He scored 18 goals and 25 assists in the league for us (inc PL) and 17 goals and 25 assists (Champ only) for Cov.

In fact he contributed a Goal or assist every 194 mins for us overall and 174 mins if you look at just the Championship whereas it was 229 mins with Coventry.

He’s done well for us. Better than he did with his prior club. It will be interesting if he is as effective second time around in the top flight.
The difference is when Hamer was with us we had Hamer and Gyokeres and that was about it. They carried us with their play.

When we sold them we bought our present side and squad with the money. Hamer won't be 1st choice with us, but he will have better players around him than he has with you. He will be playing in the middle where he is at his best.

And as usual a very good player for a club becomes a not very good player for different reasons once the player leaves.

Player of the season last season blah blah. Suddenly no tracking back, poor at tackles and too many bookings. How many cards last season and how many games .missed through suspensions?

It’s not undeniably his best position though is it?

See this is what irks about Coventry fans, insisting on his best position. That’s just your view. It’s not fact.

He had better output with Sheffield United where Wilder picked him. That is a fact. 174 mins per contribution vs 229 mins in the Championship and he didn’t have Gyokeres next to him. Even then I’m not insistent upon it. He’s good in a couple of positions. That’s it.

Anyway, he goes with my best wishes. I haven’t dissed him at all. He’s been a good player for us in recent years, not as outstanding as Iliman Ndiaye but probably the next one in recent times and he always gave 100% and you can’t ask more.

When in the middle he can go either left or right. You had him mainly on the wing so he could only go right. He is better hitting crosses in from the right than left.

We will see next season when he is up against a better quality of opposition.

Hamer wasnt POTY last season. He was bang average / poor all season, with the odd moment of magic. Provided Coventry give us £5.5m then you are welcome to him.

No idea how many cards or games missed through suspensions...most SUFC fans werent particularly counting, as we tended to look better as a side when he wasnt playing.

Enjoy the PL. Pride really does come before a fall. I and a lot of Blades fans will be watching how you go and smiling over the season. Oh, and VAR. 😉

Hamer got the most assists in the Championship last season.
