Outgoing? Hamer

Are we the only club who hang on to a player, let them be part of the team all preseason, sell them (most of the time cheaply) right before the season starts. I honestly don’t get it - if it’s just to get a couple of million more surely that doesn’t outweigh having a season of mediocrity.

I'm not a huge Wilder fan these days, but I don't think he threw Hamer under the bus at all.

Admitting the player would like to go back to his former club, where he's loved, will earn more and play at a higher level, isn't groundbreaking news to anybody.
A bit of honesty with the fan base is fairly welcome and rare in modern football.
I took it as a protective move on behalf of Hamer really, ie it isn't greed he's just got various feelings like any player

Nothing wrong with that interview, as honest as the day is long. I am mates with others who have season tickets elsewhere (Forest, Peterborough, Notts County, and a load in non-league) and all of these clubs (plus others I hear on phone-ins) are in the same position: waiting for movement further up the food chain before players to purchase and then loans become available. You can do your business early if you are awash with cash; we're not and will just have to wait our turn, frustrating as it is.
Absolutely spot on …. Thank God we have a manager who does front up to the fans cos we hear absolutely jack from the owners.

Id
If he goes I hope we sign Cleary from barnsley. 7 goals and 13 assists for them last season. We can't just sign loan players each season.
I'd like an out an out winger. Would give us balance. Cleary a good shout.

Depends on how much Dosh we get for Hamer and can spend. Souttar might be earmarked for that but who knows.

Dan James was rumoured on loan way back. Could see that but be late in window I bet. And reckon other clubs will be in for him.

I can’t tell you something that hasn’t happened.

I can tell you who has left with one year or less left on their deal, for a far lower price. None of which we ever really replaced.

Ndiaye
Berge
Anel
Bogle
And now, Hamer.

We also let one of our most expensive signings ever, Oli McBurnie, walk away for zero.
Hanging on to Ndaiye and Berge ( neither of whom would sign a new contract) until their contracts ran down earned us more money ( through promotion) than their earlier sale ever would have done

Can certainly understand Wilders comments on Seriki after that piss poor offer.

If Seriki is kicking up a fuss behind the scenes over a loan move then he needs to grow up and understand we have 2 years left on him and we aren't going to be backed into a corner.

Its not even a defend Wilder attitude. The club can't be seen to be bullied by agents and players behind the scenes.

We won't sign another player for a fee this window.

For us to be competitive again we need to get rid of so much dross. But with the wages they are on, it's going to be a hard job.

What’s happened with Seriki?

As I said earlier, looking like an oft seen shambles at BL. Things may be ongoing of course and time will tell but it’s hard not to wonder if there is a dressing room split, Wilder has indeed been thrown under the bus or the whole ownership/management team are in this shitshow together and are working from the same script.

No.

Looking at the photos from the training camp they seemed pretty chummy.

Watching the presser with Chris and coming on here has put me on a reyt downer. We've still got a good team to go but morale seems absolutely dog shit.

The enormity of SUFC's current situation has kicked in. Not blaming the manager for the financial pressure the club is under but it is clearly affecting him. His response to the Hamer question should have been a robust if our valuation isnt met he is staying.

The current failed recruitment structure is being held together with sticking plaster costing the club money. The owners seem oblivious to the damage this is doing. Experienced skilled negotiators to move out the dross and get deals over the line are required. The club would seem to have only a one man band plate spinner in Bettis doing the negotiations with his back up Schieber as gopher.

The only outgoing in recent years where the club significantly benefited was Ramsdale. His sale was allegedly negotiated by third parties from Jordan brought in by PA.

We are going into the last day of the window again where a lack of capable recruitment resources risks burdening the club with more dross. Leaving the existing dross still on the books. Players in the last year of their contracts will be left in limbo with little evidence there is a willingness to initiate contract extension talks. The fact the manager admits pro active contract renegotiation isnt happening at the club speaks volumes.

If ever there was a case for SUFC needing an experienced Director of Football it is now.
Or simply new or competent owners.

So Carl Scheiber then!

That’s basically what he does, what you outlined there.

If we call him that will everyone stop suggesting this is some sort of silver bullet?

Remember that terrible season Spurs has last year -> DoF.

It’s about getting quality decision makers into the club and outing those that aren’t. Call them what you want.

I’m surprised Hoyland and Allen are both unscathed after last season’s mess.
But but Bladey Blades and culture carriers. Wilders Bessie’s. That’s the sort of people I want out of this club. Not sure I’m going to get it in my lifetime.
