I really do wonder what they do in training that makes professional players lose the ability to have any composure, rhythm or make simple movements to allow them to make more than 3 passes in a row. I’ve seen more intelligence in U16 Academy players.

Maybe it’s the quality of players we have….

I miss a midfield 3 of Oli Norwood, Duffy and Fleck + McGoldrick. Players who could dictate a game, pass the ball, move and receive between lines.

Sam placed a lovely header into the box just in front of him and he never even reacted or moved forward onto it for a clear chance

Spot on, we replaced Coutts with Norwood and we’ve never replaced Norwood.

Brilliant players both of them. Fluid, intelligent, could control games, great passing ranges.

We’ve needed a Norwood replacement since 2023 and still searching. Peck is not even half the footballer Norwood was.

Maybe Arblaster can step up this year

Really poor half … our lack of creativity going forward is extremely worrying. We offer no threat at all.
Only bright spot is Cooper looking very good again.
There’s only so much you can judge in preseason but if players can’t be a bit braver in possession in a game like this it’s pretty poor.

I forgot how much I don't enjoy domestic football full stop. It's not just us, believe me.

Watching this has made me back Infantino's plans for a 137 team world cup every 6 months.

Bochum have only just been relegated from the Bundesliga. They beat Swansea 2-0 a few weeks ago. They are more athletic, sharper, pacier and physically strong. All the attributes missing from SUFC's line up. We lack height throughout the team. Without an outlet up front in Bamford the ball keeps coming back. Canon has just put another invisible 45 minutes in. We look laboured in the middle and suspect at the back. There is little sign of any cohesion or method of play. Cooper has kept us in the game.

After watching that there really needs to be some stepping up. There doesn't seem to be a pattern/rhythm at all, its literally like some really average footballers have been thrown in having never met each other.

Spot on, our tactics still seem to be to punt aimless balls into channels.

We don’t even try to play through the thirds anymore. That has to be down to the coaching sadly, which is strange as Wilder V1 had lots of patterns of play, overloads and retaining possession. Now we pass between Cooper and the CB’s then panic and punt it forward.

I saw Wrexham the other day playing through Leeds’ press with confidence. Granted it’s pre-season, but you’re not telling me their players & Phil F’in Parkinson are more suited to playing with the ball than us.
